Ultraviolet light can be used to stimulate electrical current flow in bone and tendon. This stimulated photocurrent is directional. In tendon the photocurrent parallel to the fibrils is greater than the photocurrent perpendicular to the fibrils. In bone, the longitudinal photocurrent is less than the transverse photocurrent.

High photoconductivity of p-type nanofibers fabricated from a reducing tetracyclic macromolecule was achieved though a simple photodoping process under ambient conditions, which, together with the intrinsic high surface area and porosity of the nanofibers when deposited on a substrate, enables application in electrical vapor sensing of organic amines.

Visible light driven Cu2O-Au micromotors exhibit rapid on/off switching and speed control. Electrochemical measurements confirm that the light-induced movement of the Cu2O-Au micromotors involves a self-electrophoresis mechanism modulated by the photoconductivity of Cu2O. This study extends the utilization of the electromagnetic spectrum for micro/nanomotors into the visible range.

Abstract Ultrafast Time-Domain and Time-Resolved Terahertz (TDS/TRTS) spectroscopic methods are utilized to explore photoconductive properties of five conjugated donor–acceptor co-polymers (PCDTPT, CDTBTZ, IDTBT, PBDTTPD N2200) dispersed in room temperature toluene, a nonpolar dielectric solvent. TRTS provides an effective non-contact handle interrogate localized relative conductivity co-polyme...

A drastic change in the conductivity of strained BiFeO3 (BFO) films is observed after illuminating them with above-band gap light. This has been termed as persistent photoconductivity. The enhanced conductivity decays exponentially with time. A trapping character of the sub-band levels and their subsequent gradual emptying is proposed as a possible mechanism.
