Background: DNA damage is one of the major consequences of radia on exposure onto the biological systems. A series of compounds including flavanoids were found to render DNA protec on against radia on damage. In this study we elucidated the poten al of ru n and ru n hydrate to protect plasmid DNA against damage induced by irradia on. Materials and Methods: DPPH and hydroxyl radical scavenging a...

This report describes a high-throughput assay to identify substances that reduce the frequency of conjugation in Gram-negative bacteria. Bacterial conjugation is largely responsible for the spread of multiple antibiotic resistances in human pathogens. Conjugation inhibitors may provide a means to control the spread of antibiotic resistance. An automated conjugation assay was developed that used...

Abstract Background Slug (Snai2) is a pivotal player in initiating epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) through its trans-suppression effect on E-cadherin various normal and malignant cells. In this study, the positive of promoting cell motility metastasis cervical cancer was further confirmed study. Methods RNA-Seq performed to explore potential molecules that participate Slug-mediated EMT ...

CYP3A4 probably has the broadest catalytic activity of any cytochrome P450. It is a crucial task to test new drug candidates in a reliable system for their ability to induce expression of this enzyme. Firstly, a total of 300 bp core distal enhancer of CYP3A4 XREM region (-7972/-7673) were amplified from human genomic DNA. The PCR product was then ligated into a human secretory alkaline phosphat...

The incidence of pancreatic carcinoma, a gastrointestinal malignancy, is on the increase and effective therapeutic strategies are therefore required. This study aimed to construct a recombinant plasmid pcDNA3.1(-) shCEACAM6-yCDglyTK from CEACAM6 targeting shRNA and the fusion suicide gene yCDglyTK for inhibition of SW1990 human pancreatic carcinoma cell growth and invasion. A plasmid containing...

The ability to visualize cellular events by linking them to color or fluorescence changes has been an invaluable tool for biology. We describe a novel plasmid-borne color marker whose expression in yeast leads to purple-colored cells that are also brightly fluorescent. This dominant marker provides a useful tool for rapidly screening plasmid maintenance using a visual or fluorescence assay in b...

We have designed and synthesized estrogen antagonists bearing dicarba-closo-dodecaborane (carborane) as a hydrophobic pharmacophore based on the structure of 1-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-1,12-dicarba-closo-dodecaborane, a potent estrogen agonist that we reported previously. Compounds with a long alkyl chain bearing an amide moiety on the carborane skeleton (6, 7) showed estrogen antagonistic activity in...

We developed a novel multiplex PCR assay for enteroaggregative Escherichia coli (EAEC) detection, by using three plasmid-borne genes (the aggregative adherence [AA] probe, aap, and aggR). One or more of the loci were detected in 24 (86%) of 28 patient isolates analyzed. The multiplex PCR assay is a fast, convenient, and sensitive molecular test to detect EAEC.
