A novel 3D hierarchical nanocomposite of vertically aligned porous FeP nano-wires on reduced graphene oxide is prepared as a demonstration of constructing an efficient hydrogen evolution catalyst. Extension of this nanostructuring strategy to other functional nanocomposites by combining different dimensional nanomaterials is attractive.
An effective theranostic platform based on porous silica nanoparticles encapsulated with the complex of a photodynamic anticancer drug and graphene quantum dots (GQDs), with the bifunction of multicolor imaging and satisfactory photo-induced anticancer activity, was successfully designed and prepared for in vitro photodynamic therapy (PDT) of superficial cancer.
Between the sheets: Sodium-ion batteries are an attractive, low-cost alternative to lithium-ion batteries. Nitrogen-doped porous carbon sheets are prepared by chemical activation of polypyrrole-functionalized graphene sheets. When using the sheets as anode material in sodium-ion batteries, their unique compositional and structural features result in high reversible capacity, good cycling stabil...
Novel hierarchically porous and nitrogen, sulfur-codoped graphene-like microspheres (3D NS-GSs) are synthesized using Ni microspheres as the template and using poly(vinylpyrrolidone) and (NH4)2S2O8 as the carbon and nitrogen precursor, respectively. As an anode material in lithium ion batteries, the 3D NS-GS electrode displays a superior capacity with excellent cycling stability.
A nanocomposite comprising of polypyrrole and reduced graphene oxide was electrodeposited onto a carbon bundle fibre (CBF) through a two-step approach (CBF/PPy-rGO-2). The CBF/PPy-rGO-2 had a highly porous structure compared to a nanocomposite of polypyrrole and reduced graphene oxide that was electrodeposited onto a CBF in a one-step approach (CBF/PPy-rGO), as observed through a field emission...
In this study, three-dimensional (3D) graphene assemblies are prepared from graphene oxide (GO) by a facile in situ reduction-assembly method, using a novel, low-cost, and environment-friendly reducing medium which is a combination of oxalic acid (OA) and sodium iodide (NaI). It is demonstrated that the combination of a reducing acid, OA, and NaI is indispensable for effective reduction of GO i...
Noble metal nanoparticles are directly and homogeneously grown onto graphene-oxide (GO) sheets in oleylamine. After the oleylamine is removed, the GO sheets are exfoliated by the nanoparticle pillars to further form hierarchical GO nanostructures with molecule accessible nanopores. With specific sensing-groups modified, the porous-layered nanostructure can be constructed onto resonant microcant...
New and novel 3D hierarchical porous graphene aerogels (HPGA) with uniform and tunable meso-pores (e.g., 21 and 53 nm) on graphene nanosheets (GNS) were prepared by a hydrothermal self-assembly process and an in-situ carbothermal reaction. The size and distribution of the meso-pores on the individual GNS were uniform and could be tuned by controlling the sizes of the Co3O4 NPs used in the hydro...
