Angina in the presence of intact coronary arteries remains a relatively frequent clinical issue. It is now well understood that an impairedcapacity to modulate coronary vascular resistances upon exercise (i.e. an impaired coronary flow reserve) may lead to ischemia and angina. We describe a case of coronary slow flow, i.e. a condition in which resting (micro) vascular resistances are ina...
OBJECTIVE We aimed to describe the imaging findings of multidetector CT coronary angiography (MDCTA) in cases of vasospastic angina (VA) and to determine the accuracy of MDCTA in the identification of VA as compared with invasive coronary angiography with an ergonovine provocation test (CAG with an EG test). MATERIALS AND METHODS Fifty-three patients with clinically suspected VA were enrolled...
Trimetazidine has been known for years as being an effective, ‘‘patient-friendly’’, anti-anginal agent. Recent studies using the modified release formulation (Vastarel MR) have confirmed the efficacy of trimetazidine in stable ischemic heart disease and suggested that it can be beneficial in a number of
Four patients with Prinzmetal's variant angina pectoris were subjected to continuous electrocardiographic recording. In three of them several episodes of ST segment elevation unaccompanied by pain were recorded. In one patient, identical electrocardiographic alterations were observed both in presence or in absence of pain, while in the others a good correlation was evident between pain and seve...

BACKGROUND Early awareness, recognition, and treatment of angina can help prevent or delay an acute myocardial infarction and potentially delay death. A patient's educational level may affect a physician's diagnosis of angina and/or a patient's symptom recognition. The objective of this study was to determine whether low education is a risk factor for undiagnosed angina. METHODS This was a cr...
BACKGROUND Angina is common both before and after myocardial infarction (MI). Whether the change in angina status within the first 30 days after MI is associated with subsequent readmission and angina persistence is unknown. METHODS AND RESULTS We studied 2915 MI patients enrolled at 24 hospitals in the Translational Research Investigating Underlying Disparities in Acute Myocardial Infarction...
BACKGROUND Angina that is refractory to conventional medical therapy and revascularisation, remains challenging to manage and poses significant burden to patients. Elevated lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] has emerged as an important independent cardiovascular risk factor and predictor of adverse outcomes in atherosclerotic disease. The prevalence of raised Lp(a) amongst patients with refractory angina h...
We report the case of a young woman with an acute coronary syndrome in the setting of a multiple sclerosis exacerbation. A connection between the 2, possibly caused by spinal cord pathology, is suggested.
Angina bullosa hemorrhagica (ABH) is a benign disorder of the oral cavity. Clinically, oral, blood-filled blisters are seen. To give a proper diagnosis, one should rule out any other cause. We aim to present this case in order to emphasize this rare cause of oral bullae which is necessary to be differentiated from many serious dermatological and hematological disorders.
