The present study investigated the feasibility of bioCO(2) sequestration using Chlorella sorokiniana. It was found that 5% CO(2) (v/v) in air was the most suitable concentration for the growth of this organism. At this concentration, the maximum rate of CO(2) sequestered and the biomass obtained were found to be 1.21 g L(-1)d(-1) and 4.4 g L(-1) respectively. Modeling and simulation of the grow...

evaluation and modeling of the wastewater treatment plants (wwtp) have to be based on thefact that the pollutant concentrations and flow rates change constantly. in addition, different approaches mustused due to there are different processes in a wwtp. a mexican petrochemical complex has a wwtp thatprocesses wastewaters from several petrochemical plants, where the flow rates and pollutant conce...

Since typical industrial-scale reactors may contain many millions of bubbles, the extension of direct free-surface modelling techniques to resolve every bubble in the vessel would require far more computational power than will be available. A more immediate solution is to couple macro-scale reactor models to micro-scale models of individual bubbles and collections of a small number of bubbles. ...

The paper discussed the development of a simulator for the Programmable CVD Reactor system using the modular simulation approach. The design of the Programmable Reactor lends itself very naturally to a modular approach because of the segmented showerhead design while each segment is a fairly complex component, with individually controllable reactant gas supply and residual gas exhaust, the desi...

In this article, parameters and states of a laboratory-scale nylon 612 reactor model (Schaffer et al. Ind. Eng. Chem. Res. 2003, 42, 2946-2959; Zheng et al. Ind. Eng. Chem. Res. 2005, 44, 2675-2686; and Campbell, D. A. Ph.D. Thesis, Department of Mathematics and Statistics, McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada, 2007) are estimated using a novel approximate maximum likelihood estimation (...

Product inhibition of cellulolytic enzymes affects the efficiency of the biocatalytic conversion of lignocellulosic biomass to ethanol and other valuable products. New strategies that focus on reactor designs encompassing product removal, notably glucose removal, during enzymatic cellulose conversion are required for alleviation of glucose product inhibition. Supported by numerous calculations ...

In this article a dynamic model of a continuous working UASB reactor is described. It results from the integration of the fluid flow pattern in the reactor, the kinetic behavior of the bacteria (where inhibition and limitation were taken into account), and the mass transport phenomena between different compartments and different phases. The mathematical equations underlying the model and descri...

Reactor noise, caused both by the probabilistic nature of the fission chains and external reactivity noises, is one of the basic topics in nuclear science and engineering, both in theory and practice. Modeling reactor noise (and neutron flux fluctuation in general) is traditionally performed by two main approaches: the stochastic transport equation for the probability generating function and th...
