Simultaneous eigenfunctions of two Askey-Wilson second order difference operators are constructed as formal matrix coefficients of the principal series representation of the modular double of the quantized universal enveloping algebra Uq(sl 2 (C)). After a brief introduction to the fermionic projector approach, we review how entanglement and second quantized bosonic and fermionic fields can be described in this framework. The constructions are discussed with regard to decoherence phenomena and the measurement problem. We propose a mechanism leading to the collapse of the wave function in the quantum mechanical measurement process.
We study the energy of relativistic electrons and positrons interacting via the second quantized Coulomb potential in the field of a nucleus of charge Z within the Hartree-Fock approximation. We show that the associated functional has a minimizer. In addition, all minimizers are purely electronic states, they are projections, and fulfill the no-pair Dirac-Fock equations.
