We investigate the chromatic dispersion properties of silicon channel slot waveguides in a broad spectral region centered at ~1.5 μm. The variation of the dispersion profile as a function of the slot fill factor, i.e., the ratio between the slot and waveguide widths, is analyzed. Two different dispersion regimes are identified. Keywordsintegrated optics; silicon photonics; dispersion.

We investigate the properties of the modes supported by three-dimensional subwavelength plasmonic slot waveguides. We show that the fundamental mode supported by a symmetric plasmonic slot waveguide, composed of a subwavelength slot in a thin metallic film embedded in an infinite homogeneous dielectric, is always a bound mode. Its modal fields are highly confined over a wavelength range extendi...

This paper presents a multiband CPW-fed slot antenna with L-slot bowtie tuning stub. The proposed antenna has been designed for PCS 1900, UMTS, WLAN 802.11 a/b/g and bluetooth applications, with a cost-effective FR4 substrate. The proposed antenna still radiate as omni-directional in azimuth plane and sufficient bandwidth for all above mentions. The proposed antenna works as dual-wideband, band...

To achieve dual frequency operation for wireless body area network (WBAN) applications, a hybrid dual-band dielectric resonator antenna with serpentine slot fed by a microstrip line is proposed. The proposed antenna structure consists of cylindrical dielectric resonator and serpentine slot resonator. The serpentine slot is etched on the ground plane of the dielectric resonator antenna (DRA). By...

We describe a representation for frame-like concept structures in a neural network called DUCS. Slot names and slot fillers are diffuse patterns of activation spread over a collection of units. Our choice of a distributed representation gives rise to certain useful properties not shared by conventional frame systems. One of these is the ability to encode fine semantic distinctions as subtle var...

Yong-Woong Jang 33 A numerical simulation and an experimental implementation of T-shaped microstrip-fed printed slot array antenna are presented in this paper. The proposed antenna with relative permittivity 4.3 and thickness 1.0mm is analyzed by the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. The dependence of design parameters on the bandwidth characteristics is investigated. The measured ba...

A number of the worlds’ major airports have a high proportion of their capacity utilised by a single airline, or alliance of airlines. At major US airports, for example, it is common for the leading carrier to account for threequarters or more of the flights; at European airports the proportions are generally smaller but often exceed 50 per cent (see Annex 1). This has lead to concerns that suc...

This paper proposes an method for testing a circuit in order to improve defect coverage of delays due to resistive open and close. The proposed method uses a signature analysis and a scan design to detect small delay defects. This measures the delay of the explicitly sensitized paths with the resolution of the on-chip variable clock generator. The proposed scan design measures the small delay i...

We consider time slot interchangers (TSIs) which are built from 2×2 exchange switches and delays and which are useful for time division multiplexed (TDM) systems in telecommunications and pipelined systems such as time multiplexed optical multiprocessors. We formulate a general method for constructing TSIs based on multistage interconnection networks in the space domain via space-to-time mappin...
