Although our beloved standard model of quarks and leptons offers a complete, consistent and correct description of most particle phenomena, lots of vexing questions remain unanswered, such as: Why are the gauge group and the fermion masses what they are? Why three families of quarks and leptons? What breaks electroweak symmetry? How about gravity? Leaving such profound meta-questions to supersy...

Simply on CP arguments, we argue against a Standard Model explanation of baryogenesis via the charge transport mechanism. A CP-asymmetry is found in the reflection coefficients of quarks hitting the electroweak phase boundary created during a first order phase transition. The problem is analyzed both in an academic zero temperature case and in the realistic finite temperature one. At finite tem...

We study the inclusive rare decay B → Xd + γ in the supergravity inspired Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model and compute the CP-asymmetry in the decay rates. We show that there exist two phenomenologically acceptable sets of SUSY parameters: for one set the CP-asymmetry has the same (positive) sign as in the Standard Model and lies in the range (5−45)% while for the other set it is negative ...

I shall briefly summarize the prospects for extending our understanding of physics beyond the standard model within the next five years. In this necessarily brief presentation, I shall attempt to outline how we may be able to discover physics beyond the standard model within the next five years. I shall interpret “beyond the standard model” to mean the physics of electroweak symmetry breaking, ...

We discuss some phenomenological aspects of an E6 inspired supersymmetric standard model with an extra U(1)N gauge symmetry under which right-handed neutrinos have zero charge, allowing a conventional see-saw mechanism. The μ problem is solved in a similar way to the NMSSM, but without the accompanying problems of singlet tadpoles or domain walls. The above exceptional supersymmetric standard m...

There are several indications that the Majorana masses of the right-handed neutrino components, MR, are at the intermediate scale: MR ∼ (10 − 10) GeV or even lighter. The renormalization effects due to large Yukawa couplings of neutrinos from region of momenta MR ∼< q ∼< MG are studied in the supersymmetric standard model. It is shown that neutrino renormalization effect can increase the mb/mτ ...

The Standard Model of Particle Physics (SMPP) is an enormously successful description of high energy physics, driving ever more precise measurements to find ‘physics beyond the standard model’, as well as providing motivation for developing more fundamental ideas that might explain the values of its parameters. Simultaneously, a description of the entire 3-dimensional structure of the present-d...

We discuss the e+e− → (hA) → bbbb cross section in an Abelian extended SM. We work in that minimum of the scalar potential for which Higgs trilier coupling is greater than the soft mass parameters. We find that nex-to-lightest Higgs gives the essential contribution to the cross section in the small Z −Z ′ mixing angle and leptophobic Z ′ limit.

This contribution describes the science and the technology of the BOREXINO experimentfor sub-MeV solar neutrinos at the undergroundGran Sasso laboratory. The paper shortly summarizes the material presented in reference 1. 1 Solar neutrinos and the solar neutrino problem 1.1 Standard Solar Model Our Sun shines because of fusion reactions similar to those envisioned for terrestrial fusion reactor...
