The pore-level two-phase fluids flow mechanism needs to be understood for geological CO2 sequestration as a solution to mitigate anthropogenic emission of carbon dioxide. Capillary pressure at the interface of water–CO2 influences CO2 injectability, capacity, and safety of the storage system. Wettability usually measured by contact angle is always a major uncertainty source among important para...

cu-mo and cu-ti contact structures were fabricated on multi-crystalline silicon substrates to provide a low resistance ohmic contact. deposition steps are done in an excellent vacuum chamber by means of electron beam evaporation and samples are then annealed for the realization of an efficient alloy layer. the effects of process parameters such as film thickness, annealing duration and temperat...

Static friction in shearing mode can be expressed as the product of the shear strength of the interface and the real contact area. The influence of roughness on friction in elastic adhesive contact is analyzed. Special attention is paid to low loading conditions, in which the number of contact points is small. The models are used to analyze a friction experiment in a MEMS friction meter.

In the modeling of infectious disease spread within explicit social contact networks, previous studies have predominantly assumed that the effects of shifting social associations within groups are small. These models have utilized static approximations of contact networks. We examine this assumption by modeling disease spread within dynamic networks where associations shift according to individ...

The term "contact aging" refers to the temporal evolution of the interface between a slider and a substrate usually resulting in increasing friction with time. Current phenomenological models for multiasperity contacts anticipate that such aging is not only the driving force behind the transition from static to sliding friction, but at the same time influences the general dynamics of the slidin...

A simple model for solid friction is analyzed. It is based on tangential springs representing interlocked asperities of the surfaces in contact. Each spring is given a maximal strain according to a probability distribution. At their maximal strain the springs break irreversibly. Initially all springs are assumed to have zero strain, because at static contact local elastic stresses are expected ...

Measurement of static electricity is of critical importance in assessing the proper electric properties of car seat covers and their suitability to be used in application to enhance the safety and stability of the driver. The present work aims to measure the static electric charge generated from the contact and separation of materials used as car seat covers and clothes. Different materials of ...

Non-linear quasi-static axisymmetric indentation problem is studied for comparitive computational analysis between elasto-plastic parameters and mechanical behaviour of homogeneous engineering metal materials. Mathematical model, based on deformation theory version of J2 theory, leads to quasi-static elasto-plastic contact problem with unknown contact domain, depending on the value of a indenta...

We consider the geometric support in detecting and analyzing collisions and contact between arbitrarily shaped polyhedral objects for a physically based simulation. The contact detection is formulated as a static collisiondetection problem in three-dimensional space. We address both robustness and efficiency of the problem, and show how both can be achieved by using the brep-index data structure.

This article is concerned with the static analysis of structural cables used in railway overheads. Structural analysis computer program named ANSYS is used for analysis. Two effects are considered in the analysis. First one is the bending behavior effect of cables. BEAM188 in addition to LINK10 and LINK180 is used to see the difference in case of additional bending effect. Besides, LINK10 and L...
