This paper develops the confidence interval for the independent component analysis. The method is based on the bootstrap method using source density functions estimated by the polynomial splines modeling. A simulation study is conducted to show the numerical example for the proposed method and that the confidence interval has a reasonable coverage probability. Finally, the method is applied to ...

Craniofacial registration is used to establish the point-to-point correspondence in a unified coordinate system among human craniofacial models. It is the foundation of craniofacial reconstruction and other craniofacial statistical analysis research. In this paper, a non-rigid 3D craniofacial registration method using thin-plate spline transform and cylindrical surface projection is proposed. F...

In this paper, we solve a linear system of second-order boundary value problems by using the quadratic B-spline nite el- ement method (FEM). The performance of the method is tested on one model problem. Comparisons are made with both the analyti- cal solution and some recent results. The obtained numerical results show that the method is ecient.

This thesis describes the methods used to analyse and model the cutting of pig carcasses into the products: back, belly, spine and ribs. Automatic pre-processing methods to segment out the individual products from raw DICOM images are developed. A bit resolution reduction method is presented for producing images that are readable for other software. Image registration method are studied and use...

Parametric spline models are used extensively in representing and coding planar curves. For many applications, it is desirable to be able to derive the spline representation from a set of sample points of the planar shape. The problem we address in this paper is to nd a cubic spline model to optimally approximate a given planar shape. We solve this problem by treating the control points which d...

This work relates the framework of model-based clustering for spatial functional data where the data are surfaces. We first introduce a Bayesian spatial spline regression model with mixed-effects (BSSR) for modeling spatial function data. The BSSR model is based on Nodal basis functions for spatial regression and accommodates both common mean behavior for the data through a fixed-effects part, ...

This document provides a brief introduction to the gss facilities for nonparametric statistical modeling in a variety of problem settings including regression, density estimation, and hazard estimation. Functional ANOVA decompositions are built into models on product domains, and modeling and inferential tools are provided for tasks such as interval estimates, the “testing” of negligible model ...

the present study was carried out to compare different random regression models to estimate variance components of lamb's average birth weight per lambing (abwll) in mehraban sheep. the data were 5,559 abwll records of 2,244 mehraban ewes. the random regression models consisted of namely, flock-year-season of lambing as fixed effect, a fixed regression to fit average trajectory of the popu...

In this paper, we propose a surgical thread model in order for surgeons to practice a suturing task. We first model the thread as a spline animated by continuous mechanics. The suture is simulated via socalled ”sliding point” constraints, which allow the spline to move freely while constrained to pass through specific piercing points. The direction of the spline at these points can also be impo...
