The fractions of samples spanning a lattice at its percolation threshold are found by computer simulation of random site-percolation in twoand three-dimensional hypercubic lattices using different boundary conditions. As a byproduct we find pc = 0.311605(5) in the cubic lattice.
In a recent paper, we have reported a universal power law for both site and bond percolation thresholds for any lattice of cubic symmetry. Extension to anisotropic lattices is discussed. ∗Laboratoire associé au CNRS (URA n◦ 800) et à l’Université P. et M. Curie Paris 6
In our research, we consider transfer learning scenarios where a target learner does not have access to the source data, but instead to hypotheses or models induced from it. This is called the Hypothesis Transfer Learning (HTL) problem. Previous approaches concentrated on transferring source hypotheses as a whole. We introduce a novel method for selectively transferring elements from previous h...
Results of numerical modeling of dilute 2D and 3D crystalline lattices are presented. The percolation thresholds for face-centered cubic (fcc), body-centered cubic (bcc) and the simple cubic (sc) lattices for the first, second and third coordination spheres are obtained by means of Monte Carlo (MC) method. It is shown, that the mean value of the percolation cluster density has a minimum value a...
In laboratory experiments, conspecific excretions and ammonia solutions evoked avoidance reactions in tadpoles of three anuran species, Bufo bufo, Rana temporaria, and Rana arvalis. A differential sensitivity of ammonia chemoreception was determined for two anuran species. For Bufo bufo tadpoles, these characteristics at ammonia background concentration of 0.2 mg/l lied in the range 150 % < dI/...
Dementia is a disease that impacts millions of people worldwide. Amongst the complications of this disease are behaviors that affect not only the individual with dementia but also their caregivers. These behaviors can be challenging especially for formal caregivers and it is important that they are taught how to prevent them. Long-term care facilities are the perfect settings for this type of e...
The analyses, opinions and fi ndings of these papers represent the views of the authors, they are not necessarily those of the Banco de Portugal or the Eurosystem Abstract Over recent years several methods to deal with high-frequency data (economic, …nancial and other) have been proposed in the literature. An interesting example is for instance interval-valued time series described by the tempo...
We build on evidence from neurobiology to model the process through which the brain maps evidence received from the outside world into decisions. This mechanism can be represented by a decision-threshold model. The sensory system encodes information in the form of cellfiring. Cell-firing is then measured against a threshold and an action is triggered depending on whether the threshold is surpas...
We establish upper and lower bounds for the influence of a set of nodes in certain types of contagion models. We derive two sets of bounds, the first designed for linear threshold models, and the second more broadly applicable to a general class of triggering models, which subsumes the popular independent cascade models, as well. We quantify the gap between our upper and lower bounds in the cas...
The analysis of linear threshold Boolean functions has recently attracted the attention of those interested in circuit complexity as well as of those interested in neural networks. Here a generalization of linear threshold functions is defined, namely, polynomial threshold functions, and its relation to the class of linear threshold functions is investigated. A Boolean function is polynomial th...
