Accurate task perception is an important prerequisite for self-regulated learning. The present study explores if 12-grade high school students (N=131) adapt their task definitions, goals and plans to task complexity when confronted with six differently complex tasks and if this process is related to their epistemic beliefs. Results indicate that students successfully discriminate between tasks ...

One fiber radio scheme using shifted prime codes for interference elimination is proposed for optical code-division multiple-access (OCDMA) network. By taking advantage of the cyclic property of the shifted prime codes in the same code groups, the proposed compact decoder is low cost and suitable to be used in the task manager node in the applications of wireless sensor networks. The performanc...

This paper presents some enhancements in the temporal reasoning of a Hierarchical Task Network (HTN) planner, named SIADEX, that, up to authors knowledge, no other HTN planner has. These new features include a sound partial order metric structure, deadlines, temporal landmarking or synchronization capabilities built on top of a Simple Temporal Network [3].

This article examines the relationships among task goal clarity, task significance, and individual-level task performance. While both goals and task significance are important in extant public-management research, a theoretical integration of the variables is needed. This study makes the theoretical contribution of explaining how these variables might work together in a public organization. In ...

It is well recognised that task analysis and modelling are complementary to object oriented software development. While the latter has gained widespread use, the adoption of the former is still rare in industry. We argue that while good methodologies are important, they are not sufficient by themselves to ensure their rapid adoption. What is also needed are tools which will mediate the implemen...

In this paper we evaluate the Parallel-Horus parallelization strategy, and propose some approaches for further optimization. Also, we compare the Parallel-Horus approach with other strategies described in the literature. Furthermore, we investigate if adding automatic task parallelization is possible, and if this can be done in a user-transparent way.

objectives: the aim of this study was to identify the role of attentional process in postural control using choice reaction time task while changing the visual and proprioceptive cues under difficult balance task (standing on one-leg). methods: this cross-sectional study was conducted by participating 20 young people (22.75±2.29). each subject performed one-leg standing as balance task for each...

according to a basic prediction made by the revised hierarchical model (rhm, kroll & stewart, 1994), there is no l2 conceptual connection at the beginning stages of language learning as l2 learners mostly rely on l1 conceptual connections to retrieve the meaning of the l2 words.with increasing proficiency, however, there would be a direct access from l2 to the conceptual system. available litera...

As computers have become more powerful, the simulations and data processing applications that use them have become resource hungry, and, at the same time more complex. The complexity of simulations has increased in terms of the number of dimensions (from 1D to 2D to 3D), the set of equations being simulated (from one equation, to multiple equations in one domain, to multiple equations in multip...
