We derive a new set of equations to give successive positions of slowly moving and slowly turning curved shock front in a transonic flow. The equations are in conservation form two of these are kinematical conservation laws. keywords Curved shock propagation, shock dynamics, ray theory, transonic flow.

High-speed rotor rotation under the low-density condition creates a special low-Reynolds compressible flow around blade airfoil where compressibility effect on laminar separated shear layer occurs. However, and shock wave generation associated with increase in Mach number (M) trend change due to their interference have not been clarified. The purpose is clear its impact of field aerodynamics. T...

Over the last decades, discontinuous Galerkin (DG) method has demonstrated its excellence in accurate, higher-order numerical simulations for a wide range of applications aerodynamics simulations. However, development practical, computationally accurate flow solvers industrial is still focus active research, and applicable boundary conditions fluxes are also very important parts. Based on curvi...

Numerical simulations are presented in order to test airfoil optimization criteria from the aeroelastic point of view. Based on an Evolution Strategy, airfoil-shape point optimization has been performed as a lift constrained drag minimization at a given Mach/Reynolds number combination for transonic flow. Additional to the drag minimization, the propagation time of pressure disturbances from th...

Unsteady helicopter rotor aerodynamics are complicated. This paper reviews some of the fundamentals and newer developments of unsteady helicopter aerodynamics. Rotor flow is beautiful and complex. Visualizing rotor flow allows for an appreciation of the following theories and solution attempts as well as nature’s complexities. The flow through a helicopter rotor with forward motion is shown in ...

In this study the centre manifold is applied for reduction and limit cycle calculation of a highly nonlinear structural aeroelastic wing. The limit cycle is arisen from structural nonlinearity due to the large deflection of the wing. Results obtained by different orders of centre manifolds are compared with those obtained by time marching method (fourth-order Runge-Kutta method). These comparis...

The use of reduced order models based on Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD) has been demonstrated to be of practical use for modeling low-speed aerodynamics. However , the use of such techniques for transonic flows with the presence of shocks has been more limited. This is because the reduced order model will only be able to represent a shock in a given location if one of the snapshots used ...

This report reviews the available literature on the aerodynamics of wind turbines and wind farms. Firstly, two introductory chapters are devoted to the physics of the flow around a wind turbine and the existing engineering models for blade and wake aerodynamics. The focus of this work is however on the numerical modeling of wakes. The difficulties in solving the Navier-Stokes equations are disc...
