Using a landscape raster-based model for optimal route navigation in orienteering sports, velocity related attributes are mapped onto single squares. Both, accelerators and dampeners as well as barriers are taken into consideration. The optimization calculation between points is based on A* while the entire route is calculated by asymmetric traveller salesman problem solutions.
A framework for integrating current and future mobility devices into a system to support navigation around an urban environment by a visually impaired traveller is presented, based on a detailed analysis of the travel task. A group is combable if it can be represented by a language of words satisfying a fellow traveller property; an automatic group has a synchronous combing which is a regular language. This article surveys results for combable groups, in particular in the case where the combing is a formal language.
For an arbitrary Euclidean building we define a certain combing, which satisfies the “fellow traveller property” and admits a recursive definition. Using this combing we prove that any group acting freely, cocompactly and by order preserving automorphisms on a Euclidean building of one of the types An, Bn, Cn admits a biautomatic structure.
