A novel polymer dispersant with a tri-block structure was designed. The tri-block polymer was composed of polyglycerin (PGL) with two dimethylpolysiloxane chains (DMPS) at both ends of the molecular structure. The high dispersibility of the dispersant was confirmed in both a model silica system and a sunscreen formulation. The apparent silica particle size was employed as an index for the dispe...

Tankyrases-1 and -2 (TNKS-1 and TNKS-2) have three cellular roles which make them important targets in cancer. Using NAD(+) as a substrate, they poly(ADP-ribosyl)ate TRF1 (regulating lengths of telomeres), NuMA (facilitating mitosis) and axin (in wnt/β-catenin signalling). Using molecular modelling and the structure of the weak inhibitor 5-aminoiso quinolin-1-one, 3-aryl-5-substituted-isoquinol...

Paralysis in man and the domestic fowl caused by "ToCP" (tri-cresyl phosphate, tri-tolyl phosphate or TTP) is reviewed, and the search for a non-toxic plasticizer derived either from TTP or tri-xylenyl phosphate (tri-dimethylphenyl phosphate or TXP) is described. It had been previously shown that the ortho-tolyl esters are toxic but we found that their removal does not make the mixture non-toxi...

The title compound, [Cu(C24H20NP2S2)(C18H15P)2]·CH2Cl2 or [Cu(dppaS2)(PPh3)2]·CH2Cl2, is a neutral mononuclear copper(I) complex bearing an N,N-bis-(di-phenyl-phospho-rothio-yl)amidate (dppaS2-) ligand and two tri-phenyl-phosphane ligands. The molecular structure shows that the two S atoms of the dppaS2- ligand [Cu-S = 2.3462 (9) and 2.3484 (9) Å] and the two P atoms of the two tri-phenyl-phosp...

OBJECTIVE The Temptation and Restraint Inventory (TRI) is commonly used to measure drinking restraint in relation to problem drinking behavior. However, as yet the TRI has not been validated in a clinical group with alcohol dependence. METHOD Male (n = 111) and female (n = 57) inpatients with DSM-IV diagnosed alcohol dependence completed the TRI and measures of problem drinking severity, incl...

Reactions of benzoylpyruvate with a mixture of aromatic aldehydes and 5-amino-1,3,4-thiadizole-2-thiol in a 1:1:1 molar ratio, afforded 5-(5-aryl-4-benzoyl-3-hydroxy-2-oxo-2,5-dihydro-1H-pyrrol-1-yl)-1,3,4-thiadizole-2-thiols (3a-c). The structure of the resulted products was confirmed by determination of the melting point and spectrophotometric techniques such as IR and 1H-NMR spectroscopy.

Some strains of soil and marine bacteria have evolved intricate metabolic pathways for using environmentally derived aromatics as a carbon source. Many of these metabolic pathways go through intermediates such as vanillate, 3-O-methylgallate, and syringate. Demethylation of these compounds is essential for downstream aryl modification, ring opening, and subsequent assimilation of these compound...
