Due to the remarkable physical and mechanical properties of individual, perfect carbon nanotubes (CNTs), they are considered to be one of the most promising new reinforcements for structural composites. Their impressive electrical and thermal properties also suggest opportunities for multifunctional applications. In the context of inorganic matrix composites, researchers have particularly focus...

The objective of the present in vitro study was to estimate the adhesion strength of nanometer crystalline hydroxyapatite (HA)-small intestine sub-mucosa (SIS) composites on model implant surfaces. Techniques of thermal denaturation (60 degrees C, 20 min) of SIS were used to enhance the adhesion strength of entheses materials to underlying implants. Specifically, results indicated that the adhe...

in this paper, carbon nanotubes (cnts) were added into chitosan (cs) hydrogels in the form of chitosan modified cnts (cs-cnts) composites to prepare carbon nanotubes hydrogels (cnts-gel). the products, named cs-mwcnts, were characterized by scanning electron microscope (sem) and fourier transform infrared (ftir) spectroscopy. swelling properties and effect of ph on controlled release performanc...

In this study, we report a simple method to coat mesoporous silica onto carbon nanotubes (CNTs) via a two-step procedure. Mesoporous CNTs@SiO2 composites have been obtained by extracting cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) via an ion-exchange procedure after silica-coated carbon nanotubes were synthesized with the aid of the cationic surfactant CTAB. The coating process was explicitly investi...

We have developed a novel method of manufacturing and assembling process termed nano-pelleting [1-2], which refers to large-scale handling and long-range order assembly of individual carbon nanotubes (CNTs). The nano-pelleting concept overcomes the limitation of very small-scale order by embedding carbon nanotubes into micro-scale pellets. This technique includes vertically growing single stran...

Glass fiber (GF) reinforced polymer composites have attracted increasing attention due to their excellent performance. In this study, GF was coated by a thin layer of nickel, and then grafted carbon nanotubes (CNTs) array chemical vapor deposition method (CVD). The CNT contents can be varied changing the CVD conditions. Three types fillers, nickel (GF@Ni), with grown CNTs (GF-CNTs) nickel-coate...

Electrically conductive polymers reinforced with carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have generated a great deal of scientific and industrial interest in the last few years. Advanced thermoplastic composites made of three different weight percentages (8%, 9%, and 10%) of multiwalled CNTs and polyether ether ketone (PEEK) were prepared by shear mixing process. The temperature- and pressure-dependent electri...

The dispersion and manipulation of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are of great importance if we are to utilise the unique properties of CNTs in a range of biological, electrical and mechanical applications. Recently, a designed amphiphilic peptide helix termed nano-1 has been shown to solubilise CNTs in aqueous solution. Furthermore, the peptide is capable of assembling these coated tubes into fibres....

aluminum sulfate nano structures have been prepared by solution combustion synthesis using aluminum nitrate nonahydrate (al(no3)3.9h2o) and ammonium sulfate ((nh4)2so4). the resultant aluminum sulfate nano structures were calcined at different temperatures to study thermal  decomposition of aluminum sulfate. the crystallinity and phase of  the as-synthesized and calcined samples were characteri...

Electrically conducting super-macroporous polymer/carbon nanotubes (CNTs) composites have been fabricated with the aid of cryogenic treatment. CNTs are selectively deposited onto the inner surface of interconnected polymer walls surrounding large air-filled pores. The present concept provides highly conducting nanocomposites at a very low nanotubes content.
