Pregabalin is a gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) analog used for the treatment of partial epilepsy, neuropathic pain, fibromyalgia, and generalized anxiety disorder. As a GABA analog, there has been some concern about its abuse liability. The number of case reports on the abuse potential of pregabalin has increased (1,2,3,4). To our knowledge, this is the third case report of pregabalin use disor...

Here is presented the whole-genome sequence of Streptococcus thermophilus APC151, isolated from a marine fish. This bacterium produces gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in high yields and is biotechnologically suitable to produce naturally GABA-enriched biofunctional yogurt. Its complete genome comprises 2,097 genes and 1,839,134 nucleotides, with an average G+C content of 39.1%.

in the present study, the effect of gaba (γ-aminobutyric acid) receptor agonists and antagonists on morphine-induced antinociception was investigated in formalin test in rats. intraperitoneal (i.p.) injection of different doses of morphine (1, 3, 6 and 9 mg/kg) and intracerebroventricular (i.c.v.) injection of different doses of muscimol (0.5, 1 and 2 g/rat) or baclofen (0.25, 0.5 and 1 g/rat) ...

The draft genome sequences of Bifidobacterium angulatum GT102 and Bifidobacterium adolescentis 150 strains isolated from the human intestinal microbiota are reported. Both strains are able to produce gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA). Detailed genomes analysis will help to understand the role of GABA in the functioning of gut-brain axis.

This study investigated the effect of preharvest treatment 0.25 mM methyl jasmonate (MeJA) and 0.5 salicylic acid (SA) on quality parameters, most important secondary metabolites (lycopene, ?-carotene, ascorbic acid, total phenolics, flavonoids), antioxidant activities, amino contents ‘Kumato’ tomato. Treatments with MeJA SA led to an increase yield per plant were effective in maintaining fruit...

1 The effect of inhibiting the transport of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) by neuroglial cells on the depolarizing action of exogenous amino acids on isolated superior cervical ganglia of the rat was studied. 1 Transport (measured by uptake of [3H]-GABA) was inhibited by (a) reducing external [na+] from 143 to 2mM and (b) administering alternative carrier-sbustrates, 3-amino-n-butyric acid (bet...

Background: Retinoic acid as one of the most important regulators for cell differentiation was examined in this study for differentiation of human umbilical mesenchymal cells (hUCM). Methods: After isolation, hUCM were evaluated for mesenchymal stem cell properties by flow cytometry and alkaline phosphatase assay. Also, doubling time of the cells and their differentiation potential into adipoge...

Aim We examined if tonic ?-aminobutyric acid (GABA)-activated currents in primary hippocampal neurons were modulated by insulin wild-type and tg-APPSwe mice, an Alzheimer's disease (AD) model. Methods GABA-activated recorded dentate gyrus (DG) granule cells CA3 pyramidal brain slices, from 8 to 10 weeks old (young) mice dorsal DG adult, 5-6 10-12 (aged) months the absence or presence of insulin...

Working memory (WM) capacity, the amount of information one can hold online in mind, has a central role cognition. Previous electrophysiological and imaging studies revealed pivotal persistent activity within parietal frontal regions as neural foundations underpinning WM capacity. The best candidate molecules determining are brain’s major excitatory inhibitory neurotransmitters, glutamate gamma...
