A rare case of ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm in Marfan's syndrome is described. The patient was treated successfully with a straight aortic tube graft. Histology of the aneurysm wall showed changes typical of cystic medial necrosis.
Central nervous system involvement in Behçet disease (BD) may be either parenchymal or nonparenchymal. Abnormal cerebrospinal fluid findings and parenchymal involvement are associated with a poorer prognosis. A self-antigenic role for HLA B51 has been postulated in the pathogenesis of BD. The sibling occurrence rate is 3.6%. Familial aggregation may be more pronounced among pediatric cases comp...
Ortner's Syndrome is a rare clinical entity, first described in 1897.1 It describes left recurrent laryngeal nerve palsy resulting from identifiable cardiovascular disease. Late reoperation for proximal aortic and arch complications after previous composite graft replacement in Marfan patients. An aortic valve-sparing operation for patients with aortic incompetence and aneurysm of the ascending aorta. root surgery in Marfan syndrome: comparison of aortic valve-sparing reimplantation versus composite grafting. We would like to congratulate Okamoto and colleagues fo...
OBJECTIVE Terson's syndrome, a complication of visual function, has occasionally been reported in patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), however the factors responsible for Terson's syndrome in aneurysmal SAH patients have not yet been fully clarified. In this study, we report on potential risk factors for prediction and diagnosis of Terson's syndrome in the earlier stage of th...
After Endovascular repair of thoracic aortic aneurysm, a systemic inflammatory response, named postimplantation syndrome, can develop. This syndrome is characterized by fever, leukocytosis, and elevated CRP plasma levels and its pathogenetic mechanisms are still unknown. Although this syndrome generally resolves within few days, some patients develop a persisting severe inflammatory reaction le...
The authors report the case of a man with blue toe syndrome, who developed bilateral foot ischemia and underwent successful repair of an abdominal aortic aneurysm and associated renal artery stenosis. Blue toe syndrome is characterized by tissue ischemia secondary to embolization of cholesterol crystals or atherothrombotic debris. Microembolization most often occurs in elderly men who undergo a...
