Introduction: Satellite cells are known as the main regenerative cell type in skeletal muscles. Our study established a modified digestion and preplating method for the isolation of slow or weak adherent cells for the enrichment of satellite cells. Low-survival rate of these primary stem cells prompted us to address whether cell culture medium substitution might change cell viability status. M...

objective(s): in order to grow cells in a three-dimensional (3d) microenvironment, self-assembling peptides, such as puramatrix, have emerged with potential to mimic the extracellular matrix. the aim of the present study was to investigate the influence of the self-assembling peptide on the morphology, survival, proliferation rate, migration potential, and differentiation of human meningioma st...

background: collagen-based three-dimensional (3d) in vitro systems have been introduced to study the physiological states of cells. as a biomolecule, collagen is usually extracted from terrestrial animals whilst aquatic animals like squid contain large amounts of collagen. methods: in order to make effective use of marine organisms, we selected persian gulf squid in 2015 to extract the required...

In vitro cell culture is routinely used to grow and supply a sufficiently large number of cells for various types of cell biology experiments. Previous experimental studies report that cell characteristics evolve as the passage number increases, and various cell lines can behave differently at high passage numbers. To provide insight into the putative mechanisms that might give rise to these di...

nowadays, cell -based and tissue engineered products have opened new horizons in treatment of incurable nervous system disorders. the number of studies on the role of schwann cells (sc) in treating nervous disorders is higher than other cell types. different protocols have been suggested for isolation and expansion of sc which most of them have used multiple growth factors, mitogens and fetal b...

This study evaluated the influence of the manipulation technique and polishing method on the flexural strength and cytotoxicity of acrylic resins. Two manipulation techniques and three polishing methods were used in the fabrication of acrylic plates that were divided into 6 groups (n=10). Groups MM, MC and MW: mass technique with mechanical polishing, chemical polishing and without polishing, r...

Actin regulators facilitate cell migration by controlling cell protrusion architecture and dynamics. As the behavior of individual actin regulators becomes clear, we must address why cells require multiple regulators with similar functions and how they cooperate to create diverse protrusions. We characterized Diaphanous (Dia) and Enabled (Ena) as a model, using complementary approaches: cell cu...

Rheumatoid and nonrheumatoid synovial cell cultures were challenged with Newcastle disease virus and rubella virus in an attempt to confirm reports that rheumatoid synovial cells are relatively resistant to infection with these viruses. Newcastle disease virus caused complete cell destruction by day 7 in both rheumatoid and nonrheumatoid cultures, and peak virus titers were similar. Rubella vir...

Bestatin, one of the small molecular products of Streptomyces olivoreticuli , and a potential immunostimulator, was shown to decrease the saturation density of murine carcinoma cell culture. The finding may indicate a possibility of direct action of bestatin upon cancer cells presumably resulting in cancer cell redifferention .
