Peripheral giant cell granulomas are common proliferative lesions of the oral cavity with a predilection for females. In this study, the presence of estrogen and progesterone receptors in 26 peripheral giant cell granuloma cases were studied utilizing the immunoperoxidase technique. In fourteen cases, estrogen receptor positivity was found in stromal cells. In ten of these, osteoclast-type gian...
Central giant cell granuloma (CGCG) appears to be a lesion that is unique to the jaws. It is difficult to predict its aggressiveness. A rare case of synchronous CGCG of the mandible and maxillar in a 14-year old boy is presented.
Aggressive central giant cell granuloma (ACGCG) is usually found in younger patients and is painful, grows rapidly, larger overall, often causes cortical perforation, root resorption and has a tendency to recur. This article is a case report of ACGCG in mandible. A girl 12 years old had features of typical giant cell reparative granuloma in the anterior mandible. After incision biopsy, she repo...
This article describes a case of central giant cell granuloma in the right posterior region of mandible in a 10-year-old girl. The lesion was removed by curettage and a histopathological examination was carried out. Clinical and radiographic follow-up showed total removal of the lesion. The importance of early diagnosis of this type of lesion is emphasized, mainly in children.
AEGCG: annular elastolytic giant cell granuloma INTRODUCTION Annular elastolytic giant cell granuloma (AEGCG) is an uncommon condition belonging to the family of elastolytic granuloma, which also includes actinic granuloma, atypical necrobiosis lipoidica of the face and scalp, and Miescher’s granuloma. Classification of AEGCG as a distinct entity has been controversial. Although some consider i...
PURPOSE To report a case of cherubism with extensive, bilateral orbital involvement occurring in a 27-year-old woman who had the diagnosis established at the age of 4 years. DESIGN Single interventional case report. INTERVENTION Ophthalmologic examination and computed tomography were performed. The patient underwent multiple surgical excisions using a bicoronal and transorbital approach. Th...
Annular elastolytic giant cell granuloma is a condition characterized histologically by damaged elastic fibers associated with preponderance of giant cells along with absence of necrobiosis, lipid, mucin, and pallisading granuloma. It usually occurs on sun-damaged skin and hence the previous name actinic granuloma. A similar process occurs on the conjunctiva. Over the past three decades only fo...
