Monitoring the flow behaviour on the micro-scale is very important in many industrial and biochemical process, the multiphase coexistence in microchannel provides many attractive characteristics compared to a single-phase flow. The precise flow rate control and well-defined channel geometries make it possible for us to make detailed investigation on multiphase flow phenomena on micro scale. Thi...

Precise control over the segmented flow in a microchannel reactor offers an important tool for the optimization of reaction yield and productivity. The fluidic control over the reaction was demonstrated on the selective alkylation of benzyl cyanide to the monoalkylated product in a 250 μm microchannel reactor. The conversion of benzyl cyanide increased from 39.9% to 99.7% as a result of a 97% l...

Large inconsistencies in previous microchannel pressure drop data have motivated the development of a microchannel experimental platform that enables the measurement of pressures inside the microchannel. The system utilizes bulk etched silicon components that integrate pressuresensing membranes with the microchannel test section. The deflection of the membranes is detected by an off-chip, optic...

We report a self-contained electrochemical enzyme linked immunosorbent assay in microchannel devices constructed from low temperature co-fired ceramic with screen-printed gold for fast and sensitive assays. No one has previously reported a device constructed from these materials for combined immobilization and electrochemical detection. These low temperature co-fired ceramic microchannel device...

Phase change microcapsule suspension is a new type of heat-storage and heat-transfer functional fluid. Owing to the lack understanding flow-solid interaction, there exists difference in research result heat transfer performance Therefore, arbitrary Lagrangian-Euler method used simulate characteristics phase-change microcapsules liquid-cooled microchannel. Furthermore, comparison between particl...

We propose here a new method for continuous concentration and classification of particles in microfluidic devices, named hydrodynamic filtration. When a particle is flowing in a microchannel, the center position of the particle cannot be present in a certain distance from sidewalls, which is equal to the particle radius. The proposed method utilizes this fact, and is performed using a microchan...

A typical MCP consists of about 10,000,000 closely packed channels of common diameter which are formed by drawing, etching, or firing in hydrogen, a lead glass matrix. Typically, the diameter of each channel is ~ 10 microns. Each channel acts as an independent, continuous dinode photomultiplier. In astronomy, and in the many other fields that use MCPs, the detectors are generally used for disto...

In this work\ a comparative investigation of jet impingement and microchannel cooling is presented[ The thermal performance of each technology evaluated at the respective optimal condition is compared to each other with the target dimension as a main parameter[ It is revealed that the microchannel cooling is preferable for a target dimension smaller than 9[96 by 9[96 m\ while the jet impingemen...

Molecular communication is a promising technique for microchannel systems. In this paper, various microchannel molecular communication schemes are simulated and analyzed using information theory, including molecular motors and Brownian motion with drift. Results suggest Brownian motion with drift can deliver excellent performance, depending on the drift velocity.
