We show how to reconstruct a field theory from the spectrum of bound states on a topological defect. We apply our recipe to the case of kinks in 1+1 dimensions with one or two bound states. Our recipe successfully yields the sine-Gordon and λφ field theories when suitable bound state spectra are assumed. The recipe can also be used to globally reconstruct the inflaton potential of inflationary ...

In this note, a “littlest higgs” model is presented which has an approximate custodial SU(2) symmetry. The model is based on the coset space SO(9)/(SO(5)×SO(4)). The light pseudo-goldstone bosons of the theory include a single higgs doublet below a TeV and a set of three SU(2)W triplets and an electroweak singlet in the TeV range. All of these scalars obtain approximately custodial SU(2) preser...

Exploring the cooperative regimes in a model of agents without memory or " tags " : indirect reciprocity vs. selfish incentives The self-organization in cooperative regimes in a simple mean-field version of a model based on " selfish " agents which play the Prisoner's Dilemma (PD) game is studied. The agents have no memory and use strategies not based on direct reciprocity nor 'tags'. Two varia...

The electronic structures of charged point defects influence electrical and optical properties semiconductors. Understanding the orbital interactions responsible for therefore promotes a chemical intuition defect-driven mechanisms in In this tutorial, we discuss molecular theory-based framework understanding defect-induced states based on local between defect atoms surrounding site. By using Mg...

Measurements of steady-state radiative efficiency versus photoexcitation rate probe the carrier-density-dependent competition between nonradiative and radiative mechanisms in semiconductors. Nonradiative recombination through defect levels is proportional to the product of defect level occupation and carrier density in the opposing band. Band-to-band radiative recombination scales with the prod...

For a scattering system {AΘ, A0} consisting of selfadjoint extensions AΘ and A0 of a symmetric operator A with finite deficiency indices, the scattering matrix {SΘ(λ)} and a spectral shift function ξΘ are calculated in terms of the Weyl function associated with the boundary triplet for A∗ and a simple proof of the Krein-Birman formula is given. The results are applied to singular Sturm-Liouvill...

2014 Present communication reports on photoconductivity measurements in thin films of Ga40SexTe60-x glasses (x = 20, 30, 40). Temperature dependence of steady state photocurrent and dark current show that dark and steady state photoconductivity are activated processes. Intensity dependence of photocurrent reveals about power law dependence of photocurrent on incident radiation. Also incorporate...

We prove the uniqueness of the supersymmetric Salam-Sezgin (Minkowski) 4 ×S 2 ground state among all nonsingular solutions with a four-dimensional Poincaré, de Sitter or anti-de Sitter symmetry. We construct the most general solutions with an axial symmetry in the two-dimensional internal space, and show that included amongst these is a family that is non-singular away from a conical defect at ...
