We present a new method to compute the electronic structure of correlated materials combining the hybrid functional method with the dynamical mean-field theory. As a test example of the method we study cerium sesquioxide, a strongly correlated Mott band insulator. The hybrid functional part improves the magnitude of the pd-band gap which is underestimated in the standard approximations to densi...

We reconsider the Mott transition problem in the presence of long range Coulomb interactions. Using an extended dynamical mean field theory (DMFT) that sums an important class of diagrams absent in ordinary DMFT, we show that in the presence of Coulomb interactions, the zero temperature Mott transition is, as envisioned by Mott, discontinuous in two and three dimensions.

The aim of the present study was to investigate caries prevalence and socioeconomic factors in children with sickle cell anemia. This study was conducted in 160 children with sickle cell anemia aged 3 to 12 years attending the Center for Hematology in Recife, Brazil. Data collection included interviews with guardians concerning social factors and oral examinations to determine the caries preval...

OBJECTIVE To estimate the prevalence and severity of dental caries in Brazilian children and the association with individual and contextual factors. METHODS Data were taken from the Brazilian Oral Health Survey (SBBrasil 2010) a sample of 7,247 12-year-olds. The data were collected using clinical examinations and interviews. The dependent variables were the prevalence of dental caries (decaye...

BACKGROUND Dental caries as an infectious disease is still a major oral public health issue. As documented in some recent studies, it has been recognized as the most common chronic childhood disease. AIM The aim of this study was to evaluate caries prevalence, DMFT and dmft scores, as opposed to caries free children at the age of 6 years from a well developed western region of Primorsko-Goran...

We study the Mott transition in the Hubbard Model within the dynamical mean field theory (DMFT) approach. The DMFT equations are solved using the density matrix renormalization group technique. The densities of states for the half-filled and heavily doped cases are shown. The full phase diagram is also presented. r 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved. PACS: 71.10.Fd; 71.27.þa; 71.30.þh

The purpose of this study was to assess the relationship between vitamin D status and dental caries in Canadian school-aged children participating in the Canadian Health Measures Survey (CHMS). The CHMS was a national cross-sectional study involving physical assessments, laboratory analysis, and interviews. Analysis was restricted to data for 1,017 children 6 to 11 y of age. Outcome variables i...

AIM The aim of this study was to investigate the dental status of alcoholics; to evaluate the relationship of unstimulated and stimulated saliva pH on their decayed/missing/filled teeth (DMFT); and to evaluate the relationship of unstimulated and stimulated salivary flow rate on their DMFT. METHOD A cross-sectional study was conducted in patients treated for alcohol dependency (n = 70; mean a...

Introduction: In South Africa information on the dental caries experiences of pre-school children with Down’s syndrome (DS) has not been reported. The aims of the study reported and discussed in this paper were to: (1) determine the dental caries status among pre-school children with DS; (2) identify the unmet treatment needs of these children by comparing the dmft/DMFT data with the Significan...
