conclusions it was observed that the success and survival rate of maxillary molar immediate implant was relatively high and similar to those of conventional delayed implants. results immediate implants were most frequently used for incisor and premolar sites and there is very little data available on immediate implantation in the molar area. in this research, we reviewed all the existing papers...

Key Clinical Message The continuing resorption of the alveolar ridge will eventually result in insufficient bone height superior to the IAN, making dental implant placement impossible. The augmentation procedure above the IAN in terms of height provides sufficient bone for implant placement and allows long-term successful restoration of missing teeth with implant-supported prosthesis.

Oroantral communication (OAC) rarely occurs long after implant placement. The present report describes the rare etiology and the difficulty of the diagnosis of an uncommon OAC occurring 10 years after the implant placement in the posterior maxilla. The difficulty of the diagnosis lies in the absence of clinical symptoms of sinusitis and presence of multiunit prosthesis hiding implant failure. T...

Bending moments resulting from non-axial overloading of dental implants may cause stress concentrations exceeding the physiologic supporting capacity of cortical bone, leading to various kinds of failures. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of staggered (offset, tripodization) implant placement configuration and placement of wider-diameter implants in a straight-line configuration...

AIM The purpose of this prospective study was to evaluate radiographic, clinical and aesthetic outcomes and patient satisfaction of cases treated with platform-switched single implant restorations in the aesthetic region of the maxilla. Furthermore, the influence of an augmentation procedure 3 months before implant placement and the type of restoration (screw-retained vs. cement-retained) was e...

Background and Aims: The aim of this study was to assess the outcome of short implants (<8 mm length) as an alternative to sinus lift surgery and placement of standard-length implants (10-12 mm length) for rehabilitation of atrophic posterior maxilla. Materials and Methods: In this prospective clinical trial, 26 patients with 6-7 mm of residual alveolar bone height in their atrophic posterior ...

This clinical case describes the effect of the osteotome technique on the osseointegration of a mandibular dental implant in a 42-year-old female patient with dento-alveolar bony defects and to review the literature regarding immediate implant placement using osteotome technique. The amount of bone expansion at the alveolar ridge and the marginal bone resorption from the time of implant placeme...

The immediate placement of implants in the fresh extraction sockets of infected teeth with periradicular and periapical lesions is contraindicated because of both the infection and the loss of architecture required for proper implant placement. There are 4 approaches for implant replacement of a hopeless tooth with lesions: (1) extraction and delayed implant placement; (2) extraction, debrideme...

P redictable formation of a direct bone-toimplant interface is a treatment goal in implant dentistry. The 2-stage surgical protocol established by Branemark et al to accomplish osseointegration consisted of several prerequisites, including (1) countersinking the implant below the crestal bone, (2) obtaining and maintaining a soft-tissue covering over the implant for 3 to 6 months, and (3) maint...

This study evaluated the biomechanical influence of apical bone anchorage on a single subcrestal dental implant using three-dimensional finite element analysis (FEA). Four different bone anchorage designs were simulated on a posterior maxillary segment using one implant with platform switching and internal Morse taper connection as follows: 2 mm subcrestal placement with (SW) or without (SO) th...
