the present study aimed at investigating how different news agencies using the concept of legitimation/delegitimation represent the same event differently. to this end, van leeuwens (2008) legitimatory/delegitimatory framework was applied to the data gleaned from the iranian state-run news agency fars news, british state-run news agency bbc, and also american state-run news agency voa. the resu...
In present study, the effects of optimization on seismic energy spectra including input energy, damping energy and yielding hysteretic energy are parametrically discussed. To this end, 12 generic steel moment-resisting frames having fundamental periods ranging from 0.3 to 3s are optimized by using uniform damage and deformation approaches subjected to a series of 40 non-pule strong ground motio...
We construct explicit bound state wave functions and bound state energies for certain N{ body Hamiltonians in one dimension that are analogous to N{electron Hamiltonians for (three-dimensional) atoms and monatomic ions.
Although nuclear energy-density functionals are determined primarily by fitting to ground-state properties, they are often applied in nuclear astrophysics to excited states, usually through the quasiparticle random-phase approximation (QRPA). Here we test the Skyrme functionals SkM∗ and SLy4 along with the self-consistent QRPA by calculating properties of low-lying vibrational states in a large...
Formation of η-mesic nucleus, a bound state of an η meson in a nucleus, is reviewed in this paper. Three different theoretical approaches are used to calculate the binding energies and widths of such nuclei. The effect of η-mesic nucleus in pion double-charge-exchange reaction is discussed. Experimental efforts by different groups to detect the nucleus are also discussed. The ramifications of t...
The unitary-model-operator approach (UMOA), a kind of the correlation operator method, is discussed in the framework of the general theory of effective interaction. The two-body effective interaction ṽ12, introduced as a basic element in the UMOA, has some desirable properties of being E-independent, Hermitian and decoupled between a model space and its complement. The UMOA is applied to the ca...
We study finite nuclei, at the mean-field level, using the Zimanyi-Moskowski model and one of its variations (the ZM3 model). We calculate energy levels and ground-state properties in nuclei where the mean-field approach Present address: Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Maryland, College Park, MD 20742, USA
We propose a model of inflation based on a simple variant of the NMSSM, called φNMSSM where the additional singlet φ plays the role of the inflaton in hybrid (or inverted hybrid) type models. The φNMSSM solves the µ problem of the MSSM via the vacuum expectation value of the gauge singlet N, but also solves the strong CP problem through an approximate Peccei-Quinn symmetry. The potential energy...
The Faddeev random phase approximation (FRPA) method is applied to calculate the ground state and ionization energies of simple atoms. First ionization energies agree with the experiment at the level of ∼10 mH or less. Calculations with similar accuracy are expected to provide information required for developing the proposed quasiparticle-DFT method.
