We have successfully implemented a facile, one-pot solventless synthesis procedure starting from acetylacetonate salts and CaH(2) to obtain carbon-coated ferromagnetic metallic Ni and Fe nanoparticles at low temperature. The use of CaH(2) as a reductant drastically reduces reaction temperature down to 140 °C.
The preparation of gold nanoparticle (AuNP) assemblies was conducted by the synthesis and dipolar assembly of ferromagnetic core-shell nanoparticles composed of AuNP cores and cobalt NP shells. Dissolution of metallic Co phases with mineral acids afforded self-assembled AuNP chains and bracelets.
A nucleation picture of magnetization switching in single-domain ferromagnetic nanoparticles with high local anisotropy is discussed. Relevant aspects of nucleation theory are presented, stressing the effects of the particle size on the switching dynamics. The theory is illustrated by Monte Carlo simulations and compared with experiments on single particles.
Ferromagnetic nanoparticles are covalently modified in order to enhance the dispersion stability as well as the antifouling properties. Insertion of an azide moiety allows "click"-reaction of a relevant tag molecule. This and the high saturation magnetization of the presented nanocomposite offer a promising platform for magnetic biosensors.
Weakly ferromagnetic cobalt nanoparticles can assemble spontaneously into nanosized "bracelets" when dispersed in organic solvents containing resorcinarenes as surfactants. Bracelet self-assembly occurs in solution and is directed by magnetic dipolar interactions, whereas nanoparticle rings with larger diameters are produced by evaporation-driven flow on wetted surfaces.
studies of the magnetization of fe2o3@pt nanoparticles at room temperature showed that there is superparamagnetic contribution with high saturation magnetization about 12.35(emu/g), and soft ferromagnetic contribution with narrow coercive field about 58(oe). in this paper we fitted the hystersis loop of sample with brillouin function that demonstrating existence of superparamagnetic phase. tota...
Interaction of photons with matter at length scales far below their wavelengths has given rise to many novel phenomena, including localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR). However, LSPR with narrow bandwidth (BW) is observed only in a select few noble metals, and ferromagnets are not among them. Here, we report the discovery of LSPR in ferromagnetic Co and CoFe alloy (8% Fe) in contact with A...
