In [1] a hyperbolic analogue of pseudoanalytic function theory was developed. In the present contribution we show that one of the central objects of the inverse problem method the Zakharov-Shabat system is closely related to a hyperbolic Vekua equation for which among other results a generating sequence and hence a complete system of formal powers can be constructed explicitly.

In this paper, we study the existence and uniqueness of the global smooth solution for the initial value problem of generalized Zakharov equations in dimension two. By means of a priori integral estimates and Galerkin method, we first construct the existence of global solution with some conditions. The soliton solution of the integrable coupled nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLS) of Manakov type is investigated by using Zakharov-Shabat (ZS) scheme.
