This paper proposes using topology optimization to design fixed-geometry fluid diodes that allow easy passage of fluid flowing in one direction while inhibiting flow in the reverse direction. Fixed-geometry diodes do not use movable mechanical parts or deformations, but rather utilize inertial forces of the fluid to achieve this flow behavior. Diode performance is measured by diodicity, defined...
The high level purpose of this paper is to describe some recent advances in the field of Mathematics called Real Algebraic Geometry, and discuss some of its applications to complexity theory, and non-convex optimization. In particular, one of the questions underlying the entire development, is the crucial question: What makes an optimization problem difficult or easy? Along the way, we try to p...
A mathematical framework called "information geometry" investigates the geometrical attributes and features of probability distributions statistical models. In a variety domains, including as machine learning, optimisation, inference, it offers potent toolkit for analysing optimising complicated systems. Information geometry its uses in optimisation inference are examined this work.First, we gi...
Segmentation is one of the essential steps towards identification any object in domain image processing. In area hand-based biometric which mainly deployed for a user authentication system, segmentation plays critical role. A review existing studies shows that there very less amount potential contribution this regard. Therefore, manuscript presents novel optimization scheme palm geometry recogn...
Beam stiffeners have frequently been used for raising natural frequencies of base structures. In stiffener layout optimization problems, most of the previous researches considering the position and/or the length of the stiffener as design variables dealt with structures having just simple convex shapes such as a square or rectangle. The reason was because concave shape structures have difficult...
We study two fundamental problems in computational geometry: finding the maximum inscribed ball (MaxIB) inside a bounded polyhedron defined bym hyperplanes in a d-dimensional space, and finding the minimum enclosing ball (MinEB) of a set of n points in a d-dimensional space. We translate both these geometric problems into optimization problems and apply firstorder methods for smooth and saddle-...
How to efficiently mimic the wing shape and kinematics pattern of an able hovering living flier is always a concern of researchers from the flapping wing micro aerial vehicles community. In this work, the separate or combined optimizations of wing geometry or/and wing kinematic parameters are systematically performed to minimize the energy of hovering flight, firstly on the basis of analyticall...
Geometry optimization is an essential part of quantum chemical applications. The diversity of the scaling of different methods from linear to exponential implies that there are different requirements for a chosen optimization method. The proposed method aims to meet two requirements, good scaling with size and reliability, which would be a good match for redundant internal coordinate system-bas...
The performance of carbon nanotube-based transistors is analyzed numerically, employing the non-equilibrium Green’s function formalism. The effect of geometrical parameters on the device performance is investigated. Our results clearly show that device characteristics can be optimized by appropriately selecting geometrical parameters. 2007 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
