G O L D I E is a system that has been developed to provide the top-down control of the low and intermediate level processes that create and modify the intermediate-level descriptions of image data used in image interpretation. The basic control structure of GOLDIE is the schema, a declarative specification of control strategies invoked in response to a request (goal) for a particular form of in...

Because of the increasing gap between modern high-level programming languages and existing hardware, it has often become necessary to introduce intermediate languages and to build abstract machines on top of the primitive hardware. This paper describes the ABSTRACTMACHINE, a structural pattern that captures the essential features addressing the definition of abstract machines. The pattern descr...

This paper describes an ongoing high level synthesis project using dependence ow graphs as intermediate form. This HLS system takes a behavioral description written in a subset of VHDL and generates an RTL VHDL description that implements the design. We use dependence ow graphs as an intermediate form. We only describe the compilation part of the HLS system and dependence ow graphs.

We examined the effect of intraluminal flow of physiological saline on the membrane potential of vascular smooth muscle cells in isolated rabbit cerebral arteries. Intraluminal flow (20 uL/min) caused a depolarization of 4.8±0.7 mV in muscle cells with a resting membrane potential of -62.5+1.2 mV (n= 19). However, when cells were depolarized to -48.7±+1.8 mV using histamine and serotonin, the r...

To reason about the meaning of an image, useful information should be provided with that image; however, images often contain little to no textual information about the objects they are depicting, which is the precise reason why there is a need for CBIR systems that exploit only the correlations present in the raw pixel data. In this paper, we proposed a new type of image feature, which consist...

Computational techniques are required for narrowing down the vast space of possibilities to plausible prebiotic scenarios, because precise information on the molecular composition, the dominant reaction chemistry and the conditions for that era are scarce. The exploration of large chemical reaction networks is a central aspect in this endeavour. While quantum chemical methods can accurately pre...

the present study attempted the relative effect of explicit teaching of textual metadiscourse markers on esap reading comprehension performance of iranian university students through an awareness raising experiment. a sixty-item multiple choice esap reading comprehension test of accounting was developed and validated to act as the pre-test and post-test. the test included items for assessing sp...

Whereas low-level vision consists of filtering and other imageto-image operations, and high-level vision involves matching and inference of symbolic, relational structures such as graphs and frames, the problem area known as "intermediatelevel vision" requires the extraction of features and symbols from a t w e dimensional array of pixels. Conventional serial architectures do not have enough pa...

As methodologies and tools for chip-level design mature, design e ort becomes focused on higher abstraction levels. Presently, much e ort is focused on system-level design, where the key tasks include system component allocation, functional partitioning and transformation, and coarse estimation. However, commonly-used internal formats of functionality, such as the control-data ow graph, are too...
