Using a recursion formula due to Dvir, we obtain information on maximal and almost maximal components in Kronecker products of characters of the symmetric groups. This is applied to confirm a conjecture made by Bessenrodt and Kleshchev in 1999, which classifies all such Kronecker products with only three or four components.

We investigate the iterated Kronecker product of a square matrix with itself and prove an invariance property for symmetric subspaces. This motivates the definition of an iterated symmetric Kronecker product and the derivation of an explicit formula for its action on vectors. We apply our result for describing a linear change in the matrix parametrization of semiclassical wave packets.

The sensitivity of the algebraic (Kronecker) structure of rectangular matrix pencils to perturbations in the coefficients is examined. Eigenvalue perturbation bounds in the spirit of Bauer–Fike are used to develop computational upper and lower bounds on the distance from a given pencil to one with a qualitatively different Kronecker structure.

We construct bar-invariant Z[q 1 2 ]−bases of the quantum cluster algebra of the Kronecker quiver which are quantum analogues of the canonical basis, semicanonical basis and dual semicanonical basis of the cluster algebra of the Kronecker quiver in the sense of [14],[4] and [11] respectively.
