Low energy and dynamical properties of a single hole in the t − J z model Abstract We review in details a recently proposed technique to extract information about dynamical correlation functions of many-body hamiltonians with a few Lanczos iterations and without the limitation of finite size. We apply this technique to understand the low energy properties and the dynamical spectral weight of a ...

We consider an air-silica honeycomb lattice and demonstrate a new approach to the formation of a core defect. Typically, a high or low-index core is formed by adding a high-index region or an additional air-hole (or other low-index material) to the lattice, but here we discuss how a core defect can be formed by manipulating the cladding region ratherthan the core region itself. Germanium-doping...

in this paper we study a representation of a fuzzy subgroup $mu$ of a group $g$, as a product of indecomposable fuzzy subgroups called the components of $mu$.  this representation is unique up to the number of components and their isomorphic copies. in the crisp group theory, this is a well-known theorem attributed to remak, krull, and schmidt. we consider the lattice of fuzzy subgroups and som...

Polarons are quasiparticles that emerge from the interaction of fermionic particles with bosonic fields1. In crystalline solids, polarons form when electrons and holes become dressed by lattice vibrations. While experimental signatures in bulk three-dimensional materials abound4–14, only rarely have been observed two-dimensional atomic crystals. Here, we shed light on this asymmetry developing ...

We show that a basic difference between the electron- and hole-doped cuprates is their proximity to two different quantum critical points in a 2D free fermion system on a square lattice and that the spin dynamics observed recently for the first time in the electron-doped Nd2-xCexCuO4, very different from that in the hole-doped cuprates, can be understood as a consequence of this effect.

this work presents a numerical analysis of entropy generation in γ-shaped enclosure that was submitted to the natural convection process using a simple thermal lattice boltzmann method (tlbm) with the boussinesq approximation.  a 2d thermal lattice boltzmann method with 9 velocities, d2q9, is used to solve the thermal flow problem. the simulations are performed at a constant prandtl number (pr ...

We have used resonant soft x-ray scattering to study the effects of discommensuration on the hole Wigner crystal (HC) in the spin ladder Sr(14-x)CaxCu24O41 (SCCO). As the hole density is varied the HC forms only with the commensurate wave vectors L(L) = 1/5 and L(L) = 1/3; for incommensurate values it "melts." A simple scaling between L(L) and temperature is observed, tau1/3/tau1/5 = 5/3, indic...

The charge dynamics in weakly hole doped high temperature superconductors is studied in terms of the accurate numerical solution to a model of a single hole interacting with a quantum lattice in an antiferromagnetic background, and accurate far-infrared ellipsometry measurements. The experimentally observed two electronic bands in the infrared spectrum can be identified in terms of the interpla...
