We have measured the deca-triplet s-wave scattering length of the bosonic chromium isotopes 52Cr and 50Cr. From the time constants for cross-dimensional thermalization in ultracold atomic samples, we have determined the magnitudes |a(52Cr)|=(170+/-39)a(0) and |a(50Cr)|=(40+/-15)a(0), where a(0)=0.053 nm. By measuring the rethermalization rate of 52Cr over a wide temperature range and comparing ...
The 90 degrees (1H) pulse length can be determined in a single scan using a simple homo-gated decoupling/nutation experiment. We show that the method is fast, accurate and readily amenable to automation.
Silicon nanowire field effect transistors (FETs) have emerged as ultrasensitive, label-free biodetectors that operate by sensing bound surface charge. However, the ionic strength of the environment (i.e., the Debye length of the solution) dictates the effective magnitude of the surface charge. Here, we show that control of the Debye length determines the spatial extent of sensed bound surface c...
We propose a method to detect circular arcs, including the determinations of their centers, radii, lengths, and midpoints. The center, radius of a circular arc can easily be determined using circular Hough transform. But, the determinations of the arc midpoint and length are more complicated. Theoretical analysis of the centroid of the near peak Hough transform data is presented. Then, the arc ...
Passive mechanical properties of the musculo-articular complex are classically studied using passive torque-angle curves. However, the mechanical properties of each structure of this musculo-articular complex (e.g., muscle, tendon) cannot be dissociated from this relationship. We recently showed that supersonic shear imaging is able to accurately quantify muscle shear elastic modulus of one mus...
OBJECTIVE To assess the correlation between five anthropometric parameters and the distance from tibial tuberosity to medial malleolus in 100 volunteers. METHODS Six anthropometric parameters were measured in 50 male and 50 female medical students using a metallic scale: medial knee joint line to ankle joint line (K-A), medial knee joint line to medial malleolus (K-MM), tibial tuberosity to a...
1. to determine whether difference in birth body mass influenced growth performance in pipistrellus kuhlii we studied a total of 12 captive-born neonates. bats were assigned to two body mass groups: light birth body mass (lbw: 0.89 ± 0.05, n=8) and heavy birth body mass (hbw: 1.35 ± 0.08, n=4). heavier body mass at birth was associated with rapid postnatal growth (body mass and forearm length) ...
