A child with cyclical neutropenia was observed before and during treatment with levamisole. Marked clinical improvement occurred while on levamisole. Deterioration occurred after stopping treatment. The improvement was not associated with changes in the neutrophil or monocyte counts, nor did tests of phagocytic cell function convincingly demonstrate improvement while the child was on treatment.

While the usage of illicit drugs in itself carries significant health risks and associated toxicities, drugs that are adulterated to give them volume, alter their psychogenic properties, and make them cheaper to produce are to be considered even more dangerous. Cocaine is one of them, and it is now most commonly being adulterated with levamisole. We report a case of a 37-year-old female with th...

Forty-four Balb C mice, aged 18 weeks were infected with crocodile (Crocodylus niloticus)-derived Trichinella species. Of the infected mice, 32 were randomly divided into two groups each containing equal numbers of males and females; levamisole treated group and fenbendazole treated group. Each group was randomly subdivided into two subgroups as follows: levamisole group (subgroup 1: treated wi...

Recent RCT suggest that levamisole enables prednisone withdrawal in patients with frequently relapsing nephrotic syndrome (FRNS) & steroid-dependence (SD). Prednisolone on alternate days (AD), made daily during infections, is an strategy to reduce relapses these patients. This open label enrolled patients, 2-18 yr-old, FRNS or SD. Following prednisolone-induced remission and stratification for ...

In this paper, we set the waiting time for elimination of levamisole residues at a safe level from tissues (muscles and organs) animals treated with 10%—oral solution. We studied depletion by high performance liquid chromatography mass spectrometer (limit quantification 2 μg/kg) in bovine, ovine, caprine, porcine poultry (chickens pigeons) after administration (10 mg levamisole/kg body weight c...

conclusions the results of the first human pharmacokinetic studies of aminorex were first characterized in 2013. the results suggest that while humans could produce aminorex from levamisole, they probably do not convert very much. even though cases of pah have been reported in cocaine users, the latest pharmacokinetic studies suggest that very little aminorex is actually produced from the inges...

Abstract At the neuromuscular junction (NMJ), postsynaptic ionotropic acetylcholine receptors (AChRs) transduce a chemical signal released from cholinergic motor neuron into an electrical to induce muscle contraction. To identify regulators of function, we conducted genome-wide RNAi screen for genes required proper response levamisole, pharmacological agonist L-AChRs at Caenorhabditis elegans N...

A rare case of a patient with an unusual skin rash after using cocaine is presented. A clinical diagnosis of levamisole-induced vasculitis was made based on initial presentation of purpuric skin lesions involving the ears and positive cocaine on urine toxicology screening. The diagnosis was confirmed after laboratory findings of neutropenia, positive serum levamisole, and a histopathologic test...

Because deficient immune responses may play a contributory role in recurrent herpes simplex labialis, an immunomodulating agent, levamisole, has been advocated for therapy. Forty-two patients with a high frequency of recurrent herpes simplex labialis were followed for a mean of 7.8 months (range 4 to 12) and treated for 3 days at the onset of each episode of herpes with one of three different d...
