OBJECTIVES The purpose of this study was to evaluate the in vitro sealing ability of three repair materials. Mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA; Group A), calcium phosphate cement (CPC; Group B), and light cured glass ionomer cement (GIC; Group C) when used to repair the perforation created in the pulpal floor of fifty extracted human permanent molars. MATERIALS AND METHODS Preparation of access...
Apexification is a widely used technique to manage immature permanent teeth and can be performed either using calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)2) or mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA). This paper illustrates a case report of a unsuccessful apexification with Ca (OH)2 of amaxillary incisor that was then treated by an apical barrier made of MTA.
We described a combined periodontal-endodontic lesion, which was caused by a palatogingival groove and an additional root. An interdisciplinary approach involving endodontic therapy, mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) filling, root resection, guided tissue regeneration, and papillary reconstruction was used for the case. The tooth presents morphologically and functionally normal except tooth disc...

BACKGROUND Mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) is a biomaterial that has been investigated for endodontic applications. With the increased use of MTA in pulp capping, pulpotomy, perforation repair, apexification and obturation, the material that would be placed over MTA as a final restoration is an important matter. As composite resins are one of the most widely used final restorative materials, t...
Mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA), is unique endodontic cement that was initially introduced as a material for root perforation repair. Over the years its use has expanded to include versatile applications in the field of pediatric dentistry. The purpose of this article was to conduct an updated review on mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) and on its applications in the practice of pediatric denti...
Previous studies have demonstrated the efficacy of mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) in repair of furcal perforation. In this article, the use of MTA in treating 2 cases of furcal perforation (accidental and caries-related) and subsequent long-term follow-up are described.
External invasive resorption is an uncommon but aggressive type of external resorption. This report outlines the management of an advanced case of external invasive resorption with mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA). The clinical and radiographic follow-up after 60 months revealed a functional tooth with a stable periodontal condition and no evidence of any further resorption. (J Oral Sci 53, 397...
A number of root-repair materials have been developed by various manufacturers, including Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (MTA) that has adequate biological and physical properties of a good root repair material [1,2]. MTA has been used for apexification, perforation repair, root resorption, and as a root-end filling material. The main ingredients of MTA are silicate oxide, tricalcium oxide, tricalc...
Mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) has shown potential as a root-end filling material. This clinical case describes the successful treatment of a premolar with an open apex using MTA and the warm gutta-percha technique. The results suggested that MTA may be used as an apical filling material in permanent teeth with multiple canals.
