approved: William A. Bogley A Coxeter group W is said to be rigid if, given any two Coxeter systems (W,S) and (W,S ′), there is an automorphism ρ of W which carries S to S ′ In this dissertation we review rigidity results of D. Radcliffe [29] and of R. Charney and M. Davis [11], noting that certain restrictions must be placed on the Coxeter group in order to obtain rigidity. Radcliffe examined ...

An efficient and purely combinatorial algorithm for calculating products in arbitrary Coxeter groups is presented, which combines ideas of Fokko du Cloux and myself. Proofs are largely based on geometry. The algorithm has been implemented in practical Java programs, and runs surprisingly quickly. It seems to be good enough in many interesting cases to build the minimal root reflection table of ...

‎A full Nesterov-Todd (NT) step infeasible interior-point algorithm‎ ‎is proposed for solving monotone linear complementarity problems‎ ‎over symmetric cones by using Euclidean Jordan algebra‎. ‎Two types of‎ ‎full NT-steps are used‎, ‎feasibility steps and centering steps‎. ‎The‎ ‎algorithm starts from strictly feasible iterates of a perturbed‎ ‎problem‎, ‎and, using the central path and feasi...

We introduce Coxeter-sortable elements of a Coxeter group W. For finite W, we give bijective proofs that Coxeter-sortable elements are equinumerous with clusters and with noncrossing partitions. We characterize Coxeter-sortable elements in terms of their inversion sets and, in the classical cases, in terms of permutations.

In this paper, we propose a Mizuno-Todd-Ye predictor-corrector infeasible-interior-point method for symmetric optimization using the arc-search strategy. The proposed algorithm searches for optimizers along the ellipses that approximate the central path and ensures that the duality gap and the infeasibility have the same rate of decline. By analyzing, we obtain the iteration complexity [Formula...

A Coxeter system is called skew-angled if its Coxeter matrix contains no entry equal to 2. In this paper we prove rigidity results for skew-angled Coxeter groups. As a consequence of our results we obtain that skew-angled Coxeter groups are rigid up to diagram twisting.

Coxeter groups are familiar objects in many branches of mathematics. The connections with semisimple Lie theory have been a major motivation for the study of Coxeter groups. (Crystallographic) Coxeter groups are involved in Kac-Moody Lie algebras, which generalize the entire theory of semisimple Lie algebras. Coxeter groups of nite order are known to be nite re ection groups, which appear in in...

We show that any finitely generated Coxeter group acts properly discontinuously on a locally finite, finite dimensional CAT(0) cube complex. For any word hyperbolic or right angled Coxeter group we prove that the cubing is cocompact. We show how the local structure of the cubing is related to the partial order studied by Brink and Howlett in their proof of automaticity for Coxeter groups. In hi...

In this article, we investigate the set of γ-sortable elements, associated with a Coxeter group W and a Coxeter element γ ∈ W , under Bruhat order, and we denote this poset by Bγ . We show that this poset belongs to the class of SB-lattices recently introduced by Hersh and Mészáros, by proving a more general statement, namely that all join-distributive lattices are SB-lattices. The observation ...
