Plasmonics based sensors have been a prominent area of research. Plasmonics based sensors are widely used in bio sensing and many other applications. The basic mechanism in which these sensors operate is that there are metal nano particles that are separated by a very small distance between them. The dimensions of these nano particles is much smaller than the incident light [1]. For sensing pur...

Secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS) applied in the event-by-event bombardment/detection mode is uniquely suited for the characterization of individual nano-objects. In this approach, nano-objects are examined one-by-one, allowing for the detection of variations in composition. The validity of the analysis depends upon the ability to physically isolate the nano-objects on a chemically inert s...

Nano erythrocyte ghosts have recently been used as drug carriers of water-soluble APIs due to inherit biological characteristics of good compatibility, low toxicity, and small side-effect. In this study, we developed a novel drug delivery system based on nano erythrocyte ghosts (STS-Nano-RBCs) to transport Sodium Tanshinone IIA sulfonate (STS) for intravenous use in rat. STS-Nano-RBCs were prep...

Arrays of planar symmetric gold quadrumers consisting of a central nano-disc surrounded by three similar nano-discs belonging to the D(3h) point group were designed and fabricated. Since the geometrical configuration of quadrumers is the same as planar trigonal molecules, nano-discs can play the roles of artificial atoms to study the coupling trends among them. The plasmonic properties of the n...

Lithium niobate (LiNbO3) is used in applications such as in optoelectronics, surface acoustic wave devices and transducers. In this paper nano-patterning of LiNbO3 wafers at the wafer scale is investigated using a novel low cost and large-area nano-imprinting technique. The formation of nano-scale pillars is presented by nano-imprinting an ordered nickel etch mask by lift-off on a y-cut LiNbO3 ...

This paper aims to explore the antibacterial property of nano Ag/TiO2 coating bracket for the common bacteria in oral cavity, and discuss its biocompatibility. Micro morphology in the surface of nano Ag/TiO2 coating bracket was detected by scanning electron microscope (SEM), and surface roughness of ordinary mental bracket, nano TiO2 coating bracket and nano Ag/TiO2 coating bracket were measure...

This paper presents the findings of a study on adsorption of dichlorodiphenythreechloroethen (DDT) and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) on three nanomaterials including Multi walled Carbon Nanotube (MWNT), nano-clay and nano-alumina. DDT and PCBs are of significant concern due their high toxicity and long environmental half-lives. Experiments were conducted using batch adsorption procedures at ...

We demonstrate that semiconductor nanowires can be translated, rotated, cut, fused and organized into nontrivial structures using holographic optical traps. The holographic approach to nano-assembly allows for simultaneous independent manipulation of multiple nanowires, including relative translation and relative rotation.

Quantum nano-structures are likely to become primary elements of future devices. However, there are a number of significant scientific challenges to real world applications of quantum devices. These include de-coherence that erodes operation of a quantum device and control issues. In nature, certain processes have been shown to use quantum mechanical processes for overcoming these barriers. One...

2.7 times increase in room temperature photoluminescence (PL) intensity and 3.2 times increase in electroluminescence (EL) intensity were observed in blue multi-quantum-well (MQW) GaN/InGaN light emitting diodes (LEDs) as a result of introduction of nano-needle structure embedded with Ag nanoparticles (NPs) into n-GaN film underlying the active MQW region and thick p-GaN contact layer of LEDs. ...
