A process is reported to obtain a nanoparticle sol from co-precipitated iron oxide particles without using any surfactant. The sol - a true ferrofluid - is not only stable over a wide range of pH but also in physiological solutions. This is a decisive step towards biomedical applications where nanoparticle agglomeration could so far only be prevented by using unwanted surfactants.

Continuous-flow nanocatalysis based on metal nanoparticle catalyst-anchored flow reactors has recently provided an excellent platform for effective chemical manufacturing. However, there has been limited progress in porous structure design and recycling systems for metal nanoparticle-anchored flow reactors to create more efficient and sustainable catalytic processes. In this study, traditional ...

Introduction Therapeutic cell treatments have been applied to a large number of pathological diseases. Tracking the engraftment of cells is key to planning and assessing cell therapies. Migration dynamics and tissue integration are commonly assessed by locating iron-oxide labeled cells with T2* weighted MRI. Interpretation of the resulting signal voids can be challenging in preclinical scanners...

Pristine monocrystalline graphene is claimed to be the strongest material known with remarkable mechanical and electrical properties. However, graphene made with scalable fabrication techniques is polycrystalline and contains inherent nanoscale line and point defects--grain boundaries and grain-boundary triple junctions--that lead to significant statistical fluctuations in toughness and strengt...

BACKGROUND Plant lignocellulosic biomass is an abundant, renewable feedstock for the production of biobased fuels and chemicals. Previously, we showed that iron can act as a co-catalyst to improve the deconstruction of lignocellulosic biomass. However, directly adding iron catalysts into biomass prior to pretreatment is diffusion limited, and increases the cost of biorefinery operations. Recent...

conclusions according to the results, it can be concluded that the titanium catalyst doped with iron (fe+3-tio2) processes is an appropriate method for reducing atrazine in polluted water resources. results the results demonstrated that the atrazine removal rate increased by decreasing the initial atrazine concentration and the maximum rate of atrazine removal (41.72%) was at ph = 11, atrazine ...

Magnetic nanoparticle-supported sulfanilic acid (MNPs-PhSO3H) has been used as an efficient catalyst for the preparation of 1,4-diazepines containing tetrazole ring. The catalyst has been characterized by FT-IR (Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy), SEM (scanning electron microscope), XRD (X-ray diffraction) and VSM (vibrating-sample magnetometer). The present synthetic protocol provides se...

The release of azo dye contaminants from textile industries into the environment is an issue major concern. Nanoscale zerovalent iron (nZVI) has been extensively studied in degradation pollutants such as methyl orange (MO). In this study, was coupled with copper and silver to make trimetallic Fe/Cu/Ag nanoparticles, order enhance MO increase reactivity catalyst by delaying rate oxidation iron. ...
