Abstract The complex crystallization behavior of the Zr 40 Ti 15 Cu 10 Ni Be 25 bulk metallic glass (BMG) produced by suction-casting method was studied with non-isothermal DSC measurements heating rate from 5 to K/min. Three exothermic phenomena were observed for investigated material. novel evaluation procedure qualitative and quantitative analysis intricate kinetics Zr-based BMGs is proposed...

The vitrification and devitrification features of lead fluoride are investigated by means of molecular dynamic simulations. The influence of heating rate on the devitrification temperature as well as the dependence of the glass properties on its thermal history, i.e., the cooling rate employed, is identified. As expected, different glasses are obtained when the cooling rates differ. Diffusion c...

We calculate the phase diagram of amorphous solid water by performing molecular dynamics simulations using the extended simple point charge (SPC/E) model. Our simulations follow different paths in the phase diagram: isothermal compression/decompression, isochoric cooling/heating, and isobaric cooling/heating. We are able to identify low-density amorphous (LDA), high-density amorphous (HDA), and...

A kinetic study has been carried out by thermogravimetry in order to compare the thermal behavior of printed circuit boards of mobile phones before and after the removal of the metallic fraction. Experiments were performed in nitrogen atmosphere (pyrolysis runs) as well as in an oxidative atmosphere (10% and 20% oxygen in nitrogen). Several dynamic and dynamic + isothermal runs have been carrie...

The work presented here was motivated by the premise that the amorphous state serves as a medium to study cocrystal formation. The molecular mobility inherent to amorphous phases can lead to molecular associations between different components such that a single crystalline phase of multiple components or cocrystal is formed. Cocrystallization pathways and kinetics were investigated from amorpho...

During laser-based powder bed fusion, the non-equilibrium solidification conditions promote local elemental segregation, leading to a characteristic microstructure composed of cellular walls. These walls can display either low carbon BCC martensite or FCC retained austenite crystal structures, thus affecting subsequent isochronal isothermal phase transformation mechanisms. In present study, eff...

Structural colored fiber was fabricated by an isothermal heating evaporation-induced self-assembly method. Under ambient white light illumination, the fibers appear colored due to optical reflectance, which is determined by the lattice constants of the photonic crystals. By controlling the size and layers of the silica nanospheres, the fiber color can be changed.

We show that the magnetic kink waves generated by the motions of the photospheric footpoints of the coronal ux tubes can supply adequate energy for heating the quiet corona. We model the solar corona as two-layer isothermal atmosphere, with the lower layer having chromospheric thickness and the temperature and the upper layer having coronal temperature.

We calculate rates of Type I migration of protoplanets in a non-isothermal three-dimensional protoplanetary disk, building upon planet-disk models developed in previous work. We find that including the vertical thickness of the disk results in a decrease in the Type I migration rate by a factor of ∼ 2 from a two-dimensional disk. The vertical temperature variation has only a modest effect on mi...
