We discuss the relation between epsilon-support vector regression (epsilon-SVR) and nu-support vector regression (nu-SVR). In particular, we focus on properties that are different from those of C-support vector classification (C-SVC) and nu-support vector classification (nu-SVC). We then discuss some issues that do not occur in the case of classification: the possible range of epsilon and the s...

KamLAND has measured the flux of nu;(e)'s from distant nuclear reactors. We find fewer nu;(e) events than expected from standard assumptions about nu;(e) propagation at the 99.95% C.L. In a 162 ton.yr exposure the ratio of the observed inverse beta-decay events to the expected number without nu;(e) disappearance is 0.611+/-0.085(stat)+/-0.041(syst) for nu;(e) energies >3.4 MeV. In the context o...

We suggest the study of events in the Super-Kamiokande neutrino data due to charged- and neutral-current neutrino reactions followed by weak and/or electromagnetic decays of struck nuclei and fragments thereof. This study could improve the prospects of obtaining evidence for tau production from nu(mu)-->nu(tau) oscillations and could augment the data sample used to disfavor nu(mu)-->nu(sterile)...

We present results for nu(mu) oscillation in the KEK to Kamioka (K2K) long-baseline neutrino oscillation experiment. K2K uses an accelerator-produced nu(mu) beam with a mean energy of 1.3 GeV directed at the Super-Kamiokande detector. We observed the energy-dependent disappearance of nu(mu), which we presume have oscillated to nu(tau). The probability that we would observe these results if ther...

We have assessed in vitro whether the absence of T cells in the natural environment of F1 hybrid mice influences the ability of their B cells to participate in an allogeneic interaction with CD4+ cells from parental mice. For this purpose, B cells from athymic CB6F1 nu/nu mice or from CB6F1 mice depleted in different T cell subsets were incubated in vitro with purified CD4+ BALB/c cells. Here, ...

We have measured the diagonal conductivity, sigma(xx), in the microwave regime of an ultrahigh mobility two dimensional electron system. We find a sharp resonance in Re[sigma(xx)] versus frequency when nu>4 and the partial filling of the highest Landau level, nu(*), is approximately 1/4 or 3/4 and temperatures <0.1 K. The resonance appears for a range of nu(*) from 0.20 to 0.38 and again from 0...

The nu 5 antisymmetric stretching vibration of 1 sigma+g C9 has been observed using direct infrared diode laser absorption spectroscopy of a pulsed supersonic cluster beam. Twenty-eight rovibrational transitions measured in the region of 2079-2081 cm-1 were assigned to this band. A combined least squares fit of these transitions with previously reported nu 6 transitions yielded the following mo...

Following a suggestion from Kostelecký et al., we evaluated a test of CPT and Lorentz invariance from the microwave spectroscopy of muonium. Hamiltonian terms beyond the standard model violating CPT and Lorentz invariance would contribute frequency shifts deltanu(12) and deltanu(34) to nu(12) and nu(34), the two transitions involving muon spin flip, which were precisely measured in ground state...
