One of the open challenges in chemical biology is to identify reactions that proceed with large rate constants at neutral pH values. As shown here, dialdehydes react with O-alkylhydroxylamines at rates of 500 M(-1) s(-1) at neutral pH values in the absence of catalysts. The key to these conjugations is an unusually stable cyclic intermediate, which ultimately undergoes dehydration to yield an o...
Various organophosphorus compounds, particularly those with low acute toxicity levels, such as Fenitrothion (common name; Sumithion), Fenthion (common name; Baycid) and Pyridaphenthion (common name; Ofunack), are widely used as insecticides around the world. PAM (2-Pyridinum aldoxime methiodide), the specific antidote against Parathion, is not very effective against poisoning by these organopho...
The ring-opening of 3-aminocyclobutanone oximes enables easy generation primary alkyl radicals, capable undergoing an unprecedented strain-release, desulfonylative radical Truce–Smiles rearrangement, providing divergent access to valuable 1,3 diamines and unnatural ?-amino acids. Characterized by mild conditions wide scope migrating species, this protocol allows the modular assembly sp3-aryls u...
Oximes are valuable synthetic building blocks with reactivity modes that enable their use in diverse methodologies, from cycloadditions to bioconjugation. Their towards photocatalysis and transition metals makes them ideal starting materials for N-containing heterocycles, amino alcohols amines. Developments oxime since 2016 have enabled transformations such as the addition of iminyl radicals al...
Organophosphate (OP) compounds have largely been used as pesticides and also as nerve agents in Chemical Wars. OP pesticides have frequently been imported and freely available to the public without usage control. Therefore, OP poisoning, mainly intentional type, is very common and accounts for 21.8% (250 patients) of the total admission to the hospital between 21 March 1994 and 20 March 1995. O...
Neat chlorosulfonic acid reacts with anhydrous sodium tungstate to give tungstate sulfuric acid (TSA), a new dibasic inorganic solid acid in which two sulfuric acid molecules connect to a tungstate moiety via a covalent bond. A variety of oximes were oxidized to their parent carbonyl compounds under mild conditions with excellent yields in short times by a heterogeneous wet TSA/KMnO4 in dichlor...
Hydrazones and oximes are widely useful structures for conjugate formation in chemistry and biology, but their formation can be slow at neutral pH. Kinetics studies were performed for a range of structurally varied hydrazines, and a surprisingly large variation in reaction rate was observed. Structures that undergo especially rapid reactions were identified, enabling reaction rates that rival o...
Two promising uncharged reactivators for inhibited human BChE and AChE have been described. These compounds show an ability to reactivate VX-inhibited BChE largely superior to those of known pyridinium aldoximes. Moreover, these oximes also exhibit a good ability to reactivate VX-, tabun- and paraoxon-inhibited human AChE.
