Toluene dioxygenase from Pseudomonas putida F1 has been implicated as an enzyme capable of degrading trichloroethylene. This has now been confirmed with Escherichia coli JM109(pDTG601) that contains the structural genes (todC1C2BA) of toluene dioxygenase under the control of the tac promoter. The extent of trichloroethylene degradation by the recombinant organism depended on the cell concentrat...

There is 50% identity in the sequences of the first 50 residues of the a chains of Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas putida. No deletions or additions of residues are found in this region, except for the N-terminal methionine residue which is missing in the polypeptide isolated from P. putida. Most of the residues which differ are chemically dissimilar, and half of them are specified by codons w...

In this study, species distribution and antimicrobial susceptibility of cultivated Pseudomonas spp. were studied in influent (INF), effluent (EFF), and marine outfall (MOut) of wastewater treatment plant (WWTP). The susceptibility was tested against 8 antimicrobial classes, active against Pseudomonas spp.: aminoglycosides, carbapenems, broad-spectrum cephalosporins from the 3rd and 4th generati...

We demonstrate a novel assay for purification of RNA (16S rRNA) from whole human blood infected with Pseudomonas Putida (P. Putida). This assay is unique in that the extraction chemistry provides a method which both lyses bacteria cells and protects RNA from degradation when isolating from matrices rich with ribonuclease (RNase) (such as blood). The method can also be integrated with on-chip RN...

We report the draft genome sequence of Pseudomonas sp. nov. H2, isolated from creek sediment in Moscow, ID, USA. The strain is most closely related to Pseudomonas putida. However, it has a slightly smaller genome that appears to have been impacted by horizontal gene transfer and poorly maintains IncP-1 plasmids.

We developed a negative counterselection system for Pseudomonas putida based on the uracil phosphoribosyl-transferase (UPRTase) and the sensitivity against the antimetabolite 5-fluorouracil (5-FU). We constructed a P. putida strain that is resistant to 5-FU and constructed vectors for the deletion of the surface adhesion protein gene, the flagellum biosynthesis operon and two endonuclease genes...

Pseudomonas putida strains are being developed as microbial production hosts for production of a range of amphiphilic and hydrophobic biochemicals. P. putida's obligate aerobic growth thereby can be an economical and technical challenge because it requires constant rigorous aeration and often causes reactor foaming. Here, we engineered a strain of P. putida KT2440 that can produce phenazine red...
