Within the growth zone of the maize primary root, there are well-defined patterns of spatial and temporal organization of cell division and elongation. However, the processes underlying this organization remain poorly understood. To gain additional insights into the differences amongst the defined regions, we performed a proteomic analysis focusing on fractions enriched for plasma membrane (PM)...

The objectives of this research were to determine the variation of chemical composition across botanical fractions of cornstover, and to use Fourier Transform Near-infrared (FT-NIR) techniques to qualitatively classify separated cornstover fractions, and develop calibration model for the quantitative analysis of chemical compositions of cornstover. Large variations of biomass chemical compositi...

A review of the publications in traditional medicine indicates that the root of Glycyrrhiza glabra L., Fabaceae, is recommended for treatment of epilepsy. As a renewable source, the leaves of G. glabra var. glandulifera growing in Iran were examined for possible anticonvulsant activity. The anticonvulsant activity of the leaves' ethanol extract and dichloromethane, f1, n-Hexane, f1A, and methan...

The exploitation of the association between plants and microorganisms is a promising approach able to boost natural attenuation processes for soil clean-up in vast polluted areas characterized by mixed chemical contamination. We aimed to explore the selection of root-associated bacterial communities driven by different plant species spontaneously established in abandoned agricultural soils with...

The roots of licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra) are a rich source of flavonoids, in particular, prenylated flavonoids, such as the isoflavan glabridin and the isoflavene glabrene. Fractionation of an ethyl acetate extract from licorice root by centrifugal partitioning chromatography yielded 51 fractions, which were characterized by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry and screened for activity in...

Introduction: Echinops ilicifolius, Echinops jesdianus, Echinops ceratophorus and Echinops lasiolepis are defined as native plants of Yazd that their immunomedulatory effects have not been studied yet. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of different concentrations of these plants on peripheral blood mononuclear cells(PBMCs) proliferation and interleukin(IL)-4 secretions. method...

We completely solve the family of relative Thue equations x − (t − 1)xy − (t+ 2)xy − y = μ, where the parameter t, the root of unity μ and the solutions x and y are integers in the same imaginary quadratic number field. This is achieved using the hypergeometric method for |t| ≥ 53 and Baker’s method combined with a computer search using continued fractions for the remaining values of t.

The comparative analysis of plant hormones was undertaken on a 1-naphthaleneacetic acid tolerant mutant and normal tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum cv Xanthi) plantlets. The mutant plantlet was scrubby and impaired in its root morphogenesis. Degeneration of the root meristem was studied on tissue sections; it appeared very fast (as early as the 3rd or 4th day after sowing), after which the root was f...
