The 4.3-Mb genome of Lutibaculum baratangense strain AMV1(T), isolated from a soil sample collected from a mud volcano in Andamans, India, is reported. The draft genome of strain Lutibaculum baratangense AMV1(T) consists of 4,300,776 bp with a G+C content of 66.93 mol% and 4,198 predicted coding regions, including 56 RNAs.
A contribution presents a view about the current landscape of the central part of the Nízký Jeseník Mountains. This region was afflicted not only by the activity of volcanoes, but also by the activity of human. The construction of the Slezská Harta Water Reservoir was the last huge change in the landscape.

A number of electric and magnetic signals have been observed on La Fournaise volcano, attributed to electrokinetic effects. A simple model is proposed here to check this hypothesis. The volcano is idealized as a 2d heterogeneous structure composed of a fractured zone located between two porous zones through which meteoritic waters flow downwards; flow occurs predominantly in the fractured zone ...
Kı̄lauea volcano is the largest stationary source of SO2 pollution in the United States of America. Moreover, the SO2 that the volcano emits eventually forms particulate matter, another major pollutant. We use this exogenous ∗We thank Jill Miyamura of Hawai‘i Health Information Corporation for the data. Chaning Jang and Jonathan Sweeney provided expert research assistance. We also thank particip...
Significant anomalous changes in the ultra low frequency range (approximately 0.01 Hz) were observed in both geoelectric and geomagnetic fields before the major volcano-seismic activity in the Izu Island region, Japan. The spectral intensity of the geoelectric potential difference between some electrodes on Niijima Island and the third principal component of geomagnetic field variations at an a...
The small size and mass of the LOAC instrument, as well as its wide detection range for the particle size distribution and potential to distinguish particle nature makes it a highly attractive instrument for volcanology applications. Measurements of the volcanic aerosol emission are challenging due to the difficult-to-access terrain, and can be hazardous during eruptions. The lightweight LOAC o...
