Dear Editor, The article by Ji et al1 is very interesting. However, they do not mention the increased risk for systemic malignancies especially cutaneous malignancies in patients with sarcoidosis. The incidence of malignancies in patients with sarcoidosis is almost 1.65 times the incidence in patients without any clinical sarcoidosis.2 In fact, patients with sarcoidosis are almost 3 times more ...

Sarcoidosis is a multisystemic granulomatous disease of unknown etiology. We report an unusual case of sarcoidosis in a woman presenting with cardiac sarcoidosis and massive splenomegaly with a familial history of cardiac sarcoidosis. Cardiac sarcoidosis was diagnosed based on electrocardiogram, echocardiogram, 18F-fluoro-2-deoxyglucose positron emission tomography (18F-FDG-PET) and skin histol...

Uveitis is often a manifestation of sarcoidosis. Less well-recognized, however, is the development of uveitis several years before the diagnosis of systemic sarcoidosis. The possibility that presentation of uveitis is a marker for the chronicity of sarcoidosis has never been investigated. Methods Seventy-seven subjects were enrolled, including 45 patients diagnosed with sarcoidosis-related uveitis as cases and 32 patients with s...

Lepromatous leprosy and sarcoidosis have varied clinical manifestations. These two diseases are sometimes mistaken for each other in their clinical, histopathological laboratory parameters, but coexistence is seemingly quite rare paradoxical. We present a 40-year-old female with newly diagnosed lepromatous subcutaneous sarcoidosis.

Sarcoidosis, a systemic granulomatous syndrome invariably affecting the lung, typically spontaneously remits but in ~20% of cases progresses with severe lung dysfunction or cardiac and neurologic involvement (complicated sarcoidosis). Unfortunately, current biomarkers fail to distinguish patients with remitting (uncomplicated) sarcoidosis from other fibrotic lung disorders, and fail to identify...
