Distribution companies face great challenges to organize their fleet efficiently. In this work, a study of capacitated vehicle routing problem with simultaneous pickup and delivery between two depots with several nodes spread in between is taken up. The purpose of this study is to develop a heuristic procedure for the above mentioned problem and analyse the results. The problem consists of two ...

This work addresses the Vehicle Routing Problem with Simultaneous Pickup and Delivery (VRPSPD). Due to its complexity, we propose a heuristic algorithm for solving it, so-called GENVNS-TS-CL-PR. This algorithm combines the heuristic procedures Cheapest Insertion, Cheapest Insertion with multiple routes, GENIUS, Variable Neighborhood Search (VNS), Variable Neighborhood Descent (VND), Tabu Search...

Though its origins can be traced back to 1977, the development and application of the metaheuristic Scatter Search (SS) has stayed dormant for 20 years. However, in the last 10 years, research interest has positioned SS as one of the recognizable methodologies within the umbrella of evolutionary search. This paper presents an application of SS to the problem of routing vehicles that are require...

We propose a branch-and-cut algorithm for the VRPSPD where the constraints that assure that the capacities are not exceeded in the middle of a route are applied in a lazy fashion. The algorithm was tested in 87 instances with 50-200 customers, finding improved lower bounds and several new optimal solutions.

In response to a magnetic field impulse, magnetostrictive magnetoelastic sensors mechanically vibrate. These vibrations can be detected in several ways: optically from the amplitude modulation of a reflected laser beam, acoustically using a microphone or hydrophone, and by using a pickup coil to detect the magnetic flux emitted from the sensor. Earlier work has shown that the resonant frequency...

In this paper we introduce a new, pickup and delivery vehicle routing model where weight limits and also packing constraints are taken into account. In the model the vehicles have to transport 3-dimensional boxes from their pickup points into their delivery points. The boxes have weights and the vehicles has to satisfy a weight limit. We present a heuristic algorithm for the solution of the pro...

We present a novel variation of the vehicle routing problem VRP . Single commodity cargo with pickup and delivery service is considered. Customers are labeled as either cargo sink or cargo source, depending on their pickup or delivery demand. This problem is called a single commodity vehicle routing problem with pickup and delivery service 1-VRPPD . 1-VRPPD deals with multiple vehicles and is t...

The signal induced by an electron on a pickup strip has been calculated in a RPC used in INO calorimeter [1] following Ramo’s theorem [2]. An accurate estimation of weighting field has been obtained using a nearly exact Boundary Element Method (neBEM) solver [3] while the electron velocity from the real field values. The calculation has shown a growth and subsequent fall of pickup signal with d...
