While there is a growing use of complex façade designs in contemporary architecture worldwide and across Europe, little known about the perceptual effects these façades resulting daylight patterns on occupants, or how such might differ between European latitudes. This study examines perception Europe by replicating virtual reality (VR) experiment Norway, Switzerland Greece, using mixed experime...
Quantitative information about variations in the background at J and K ′ are presented and used to develop guidelines for the acquisition and reduction of ground-based images of faint extended sources in the near-infrared, especially those which occupy a significant fraction of the field of view of a detector or which are located in areas crowded with foreground or background sources. Findings ...
We present a novel method for reconstructing weak lensing mass or convergence maps as probe to study non-Gaussianities in the cosmic density field. While previous surveys have relied on flat-sky approximation, forthcoming Stage IV will cover such large areas with field of view (FOV) motivate reconstruction sphere. Here, we an improved Kaiser-Squires (KS+) inversion using HEALPix pixelisation sp...
The restorative potential of green outdoor environments for children in preschool settings was investigated by measuring the attention of children playing in settings with different environmental features. Eleven preschools with outdoor environments typical for the Stockholm area were assessed using the outdoor play environment categories (OPEC) and the fraction of visible sky from play structu...
MAGIC is a single-dish Cherenkov telescope located on La Palma (Spain), hence with an optimal view on the Northern sky. Sensitive in the 30 GeV – 30 TeV energy band, it is nowadays the only ground-based instrument being able to measure high-energy γ-rays below 100 GeV. We review the most recent experimental results obtained using MAGIC.
A large wide-field telescope and camera with optical throughput over 200 m 2 deg 2 – a factor of 50 beyond what we currently have – would enable the detection of faint moving or bursting optical objects: from Earth threatening asteroids to energetic events at the edge of the optical universe. An optimized design for LSST is a 8.4 m telescope with a 3 degree field of view and an optical throughp...
