A phosgene-free synthesis of symmetrical N,N'-disubstituted urea by the reaction of aromatic and aliphatic primary amines and urea promoted by  microwave irradiation in the presence of a suitable energy-transfer solvent such as N-N-dimethylacetamide is described.

Nano silica-H2SO4 is an efficient and mild catalysis system for the regeneration of aldehyde from aldoximes. Ketoximes are converted to amides by Beckmann rearrangement in the presence of nano silica-H2SO4. The reactions are carried out in solvent-free conditions under microwave irradiation (600 W) within 50-120 sec in good yields.

Drill mud is a fluid which is used in oil extraction industries in order to cool and lubricate the drill bit. Due to containing numerous toxic components, it is considered as a hazardous waste which must be treated before discharging to the environment. Current separation techniques for drill cutting treatment can be categorized into three main categories of physical (dewatering), physiochemica...

Marine ecosystems cover more than 70% of the globe's surface. These habitats are occupied by a great diversity of marine organisms that produce highly structural diverse metabolites as a defense mechanism. In the last decades, these metabolites have been extracted and isolated in order to test them in different bioassays and assess their potential to fight human diseases. Since traditional extr...

An ionic liquid-based microwave-assisted extraction method (ILMAE) was successfully applied for the extraction of taxifolin from Larix gmelinii. Different kinds of 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium ionic liquids with different kinds of cations and anions were studied and 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide was chosen as the optimal solvent for taxifolin extraction. The optimal conditions of ILMAE wer...

Sulfonic acid functionalized SBA-15 as a nanoporous acid catalyst was used in the synthesis of 2-Aryl benzoxazoles 4 by the condensation of 2-aminophenol 1 and benzoyl chlorides 2 under microwave irradiation in solvent free reaction conditions. The advantages of this methodology are good product yields (60-98%), being environmentally benign, short reaction times and easy work up.

Response surface methodology (RSM) and artificial neural networks (ANN) were evaluated and compared in order to decide which method was the most appropriate to predict and optimize total phenolic content (TPC) and oleuropein yields in olive tree leaf (Oleaeuropaea) extracts, obtained after solvent-free microwave-assisted extraction (SFMAE). The SFMAE processing conditions were: microwave irradi...
