PURPOSE To evaluate whether mangafodipir trisodium (Mn-DPDP)-enhanced magnetic resonance (MR) imaging surpasses dual-phase spiral computed tomography (CT) in differentiating focal liver lesions. MATERIALS AND METHODS One hundred forty-five patients who had or were suspected of having focal liver lesions were included in a multicenter study and underwent dual-phase spiral CT and enhanced MR im...

This Image Report aims to briefly describe, giving some imaging examples, the radiological definition of the features of lung nodules as commonly used by radiologists. We hope thus to improve communication and mutual understanding between radiologists and clinicians.

pulmonary embolism is considered as a great masquerader due to its frequent nonspecific signs and symptoms. typically pulmonary embolism is under-diagnosed or over-diagnosed. in this study a patient with pulmonary embolism is reported in which the patient exhibited two unusual manifestations namely; right upper quadrant abdominal pain and st-t elevation in anterior precordial leads. due to the ...

Helical nanofilaments (HNFs) have attracted much interest because of their unique optical properties, but there have been many hurdles to overcome in using them for the practical applications due to their structural complexity. Here we demonstrate that the molecular configuration and layer conformation of a modulated HNF (HNFs(mod)) can be studied using a physicochemical confinement system. The...

Using suitable polychromatic superpositions of helical Mathieu and parabolic nondiffracting beams, we study for the first time, to the best of our knowledge, the higher-order helical Mathieu X waves and the traveling and stationary parabolic X waves. The mathematical and physical properties of these new kinds of localized pulses are discussed.

Results from a comprehensive analytical and numerical study of nonequilibrium dynamics in the two-dimensional complex Ginzburg-Landau equation have been presented. In particular, spiral defects have been used to characterize the domain growth law and the evolution morphology. An asymptotic analysis of the single-spiral correlation function shows a sequence of singularities-analogous to those se...

The cone-beam approach for image reconstruction attracts an increasing attention in various applications, especially medical imaging. Previously, the traditional practical cone-beam reconstruction method, the Feldkamp algorithm, was generalized into the case of spiral/helical scanning loci with equispatial cone-beam projection data. In this paper, we formulated the generalized Feldkamp algorith...

background: accurate measurement of the height and buccolingual thickness of available bone has a significant role in dental implantology. the shadow of ramus on the mandibular second molar region disturbs the sharpness of conventional tomographic images. the aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of transferring the shadow of ramus from the center of the focal plane, by changing the posi...
