A solid-phase microextraction (SPME) procedure was evaluated for its application in measuring solute release in the headspace (HS) and in the liquid phase (DI) from emulsified and nanostructured materials. Limonene, a hydrophobic flavor compound present in many foods and beverages, was used as a model solute for evaluating the SPME method. Sampling conditions, including SPME fiber type, samplin...

PURPOSE An important step in the development of liposome-based formulations is estimating the free drug concentration in the aqueous solution surrounding liposomes. This research presents a new method for determination of free concentrations, based on membrane-protected solid-phase microextraction (SPME). METHODS For effective direct extraction of low molecular weight compounds from complex l...

A synthesis of 2-methyl-6-vinylpyrazine was carried out by way of a 'one pot' reaction. In order to establish the efficiency of this synthesis the extraction of the volatiles released by male papaya fruit flies was performed by SPME (solid phase micro-extraction). The compound was separated and identified using GC/MSD (gas chromatography/mass spectrometry detector).

Insects trigger plants to release volatile compounds that mediate the interaction with both pest and beneficial insects. Soybean aphids (Aphis glycines) induces soybean (Glycine max) leaves to produce volatiles that attract predators of the aphid. In this research, we describe the use of solid-phase microextraction (SPME) for extraction of volatiles from A. glycines-infested plant. Objectives w...

Artemisia argyi leaf is a widely used traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). In this work, for the first time, the separation and identification of volatile constituents in Artemisia argyi flowers is performed. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) with solid-phase microextraction (SPME) is developed for the fast analysis of volatile constituents in the flowers. Several headspace SPME param...

Volatile components from Exocarpium Citri Grandis (ECG) were, respectively, extracted by three methods, that is, steam distillation (SD), headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME), and solvent extraction (SE). A total of 81 compounds were identified by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry including 77 (SD), 56 (HS-SPME), and 48 (SE) compounds, respectively. Despite of the extraction metho...

Background and aims: Conventional Methods for determination of volatile organic pollutants in the air are based on solvent extraction. Solid-phase microextraction (SPME) has been popular as an environmentally friendly technique to extract a very wide range of analytes. SPME fibers have some drawbacks that can be overcome by use of sol-gel nanosorbents. Therefore the aim of this study has been t...

ABSTRACT: A combined gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) with headspace solid-phase micro extraction (SPME) method has been employed for the analysis of the flavor volatiles of three different rice cultivar, including two modified Iranian rice cultivars and Hashemi rice cultivar during gelatinization. The proposed combination provided a powerful system for easy and rapid screening of a...

Background & Aim: Essential oils are isolated from different sections of plants such as flowers, seeds, leaves, stems and roots. Essential oils are applied extensively in producing of perfumes, cosmetics, foods, beverages and confectioneries and as ingredients of disinfectants and insecticides. Experimental: Essential oil are obtained by several isolation methods, such as hydrodistillation (HD...
