In general strong domination number s(G) can be made to decrease or increase by removal of vertices from G. In this paper our main objective is the study of this phenomenon. Further the stability of the strong domination number of a graph G is investigated. 2000 Mathematics subject classification : 05C70
We investigate the role of quantum mechanical effects in the central stability concept of evolutionary game theory i.e. an Evolutionarily Stable Strategy (ESS). Using two and three-player symmetric quantum games we show how the presence of quantum phenomenon of entanglement can be crucial to decide the course of evolutionary dynamics in a population of interacting individuals.
The ow of an incompressible viscous uid between parallel plates becomes unstable when the plates are tumbled. As the tumbling rate increases, the ow restabilizes. This phenomenon is elucidated by path-following techniques. The solution of the Navier-Stokes equations is approximated by spectral techniques. The linear stability of these solutions is studied.
We present a construction and basic properties of a class of continuous distributions of an arbitrary form defined on a compact (bounded) set by concatenating in a continuous manner three probability density functions with bounded support using a modified mixture technique. These three distributions may represent growth, stability and decline stages of a physical or mental phenomenon.
We study the phenomenon of entrainment in processor sharing networks, whereby, while individual network resources have sufficient capacity tomeet demand, the requirement for simultaneous availability of resourcesmeans that a networkmay nevertheless be unstable. We show that instability occurs through poor control, and that, for a variety of network topologies, only small modifications to contro...
We discuss two events with profound implications on the way initial value problems are solved numerically. The first was the identification of stiffness as a widely spread phenomenon affecting the ability to obtain useful results. The second was the definition of A-stability as an important approach to overcoming the effect of stiffness. Not only was the idea associated with A-stability signifi...
1. Evidence has been found that Northrop's phenomenon (so called by us) is produced in the digestion of casein or hemoglobin brought about by trypsin, papain, and pepsin either crude or crystalline in the presence of gelatin. 2. Anson's and Kunitz' methods permit the measure of proteolytic activity of any protease on casein or hemoglobin substrate in the presence of gelatin, even in very small ...
In this paper, we examine the global stability and instability problems for a class of discrete-time adaptive nonlinear stochastic control. The systems to be controlled may exhibit chaotic behavior and are assumed to be linear in unknown parameters but nonlinear in output dynamics, which are characterized by a nonlinear function [say, f(x)]. It is found and proved that in the scalar parameter c...
When a dynamical system possesses certain symmetry, there can be an invariant subspace in the phase space. In the invariant subspace there can be a chaotic attractor. As a parameter changes through a critical value, the chaotic attractor can lose stability with respect to perturbations transverse to the invariant subspace. We show that the loss of the transverse stability can lead to a symmetry...
